Any way to stop my cats from jumping on the Christmas tree

My cat, Samuel, has a bad habit of trying to climb the Christmas tree. Each year ornaments get broken and the tree sometimes fall down. It was funny to begin with, but now it’s pretty annoying.

Is there anyway to stop this or should I just not put up the Christmas tree
