Adventure/ Straight Line Missions
shiey is a great fix for those who enjoyed watching Tom sneak around farm lots. Replace farms with factories and farmers with security guards.
Goldmine of a channel.
”Run the Line: Retracing 43km of hidden railway” by Beau Miles
Overgrown, sold off and only half there, Beau sets off with shovel in hand, dressed like a 50's train driver, to re-trace an old train-line. Running the line end to end would be the first human passing in over 60 years.
”300 Days Alone” by Olivier Vittel
Much like a real life rendition of Cast Away, Xavier Rosset is dumped on the Island of Tofua with only a machete, swiss knife and first aid kit. Completely alone and with no food, Xavier has to survive 10 months before another boat comes back to collect him. A step up from Toms campfire in the woods to say the least.
Brave Dave's Big Fat Freight Hop
Aptly named “Brave Dave” embarks on a mission to freight hop all the way across Canada. Full of tense moments and great scenery.
”Vagrant Holiday” by… Vagrant Holiday
A man with no plans of paying for accommodation travels to 8 different destinations from Paris to Japan in 30 days. Sleeping rough and exploring the cities from a unique perspective, the entire trip cost just $931. Including flights.
”Forbidden Island” by Vagrant Holiday
Considered “Washington's Alcatraz”, McNeil Island is a small piece of land 3 miles west of Tacoma, Washington. McNeil Island Corrections Center houses almost exclusively sex offenders considered too dangerous to be held at other facilities. So why not kayak over there and have a poke around?
"40 Miles in a Straight Line" by Gentree
Four friends take it upon themselves to walk in a perfectly straight line from their apartment in Idaho to the Dworshak dam 40 miles away.
”Walking Across an Entire Country in a Straight Line” by Reuben Schmitz
Jakob and Reuben take on Luxembourg with a familiar looking Garmin GPS. Will they make it, or will they get trampled to death by cows whilst sleeping in a field?
A Canadian fella obsessed with camping in odd places. One for the camping enthusiasts, very cosy.
”Africa by Kayak: 2000km around the southern tip of Africa” by Beau Miles
Every video of Beau’s is awesome but this one in particular captures the spirit of MAW. A man on a mission to kayak 200km around the tip of South Africa.
As scaling steep cliffs becomes an increasing part of the mission across Norway, I thought I’d include a mountain climbing entry on this list.
Award winning and for good reason, "ZABARDAST" follows one crews 5 week journey through the Karakoram range in Pakistan.
"The Walk Across Arizona" by Trevor Atwood
An 800 mile solo hike from Utah to Mexico. Truly awesome video.
Think Steve Wallis on steroids. Another Canadian obsessed with camping, this time slightly more adventurous with more solo survival and shelter building aspects. Cracking channel.
A charming Brit that visits places most tourists never see. Obsessed with the former soviet union, Bald makes some unlikely friends (and enemies) in almost every region of Russia.
Yet another Brit, this time walking 500 miles across the breadth of India. Interesting interactions with locals that don't see foreigners often, if ever. Thoroughly underrated.
UNDERCITY New York City urban exploration w STEVE DUNCAN
Steve Duncan, a savvy veteran of New Yorks various underground tunnels and tubes, takes a camera man down into the New York underground, evading security and workers all the while.
"Traveling to the lost Soviet space shuttles" by Ilia Bondarev
2 Russians trek their way through rural Kazakhstan to sneak into the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The world's first spaceport for orbital and human launches. The facility is still active today so they must use the cover of night to enter undetected.
"We crossed the county in a straight line" by Kyler Morgan
After concluding that crossing his home state of Indiana in a straight line was practically impossible Kyler settles for the next best thing. The county of Montgomery. Still an impressive 21 miles across, the mission is no mean feat.
"I Crossed Delaware in a Straight Line" by Explore Everywhere
Does what it says on he tin! A mini straight line mission across the state of Delaware.
Geoguessr/Educational
Toms opponent in their race to correctly guess 15 countries in a row on GeoGuessr, now holds the record at 42. A geographical guru of sorts.
Watch the world's best geoguessr players duke it out, with commentary!
The man behind all your favourite Geoguessr maps, also happens to make videos of his own. French and English. Turns out he’s not too shabby at the game either!
Lots of interesting geography videos although you might need to play them back at half speed to understand.
