Hi. I present myself to this reddit group sharing the WIP of my first "AdMech" miniature. A kitbashing for a Onager Dunecrawler for my non chaotic Heretek faction.
What do you think of it?
Awesome so far. Are you giving the liquid chamber a lid?
I think the lid might be the thing sitting behind the model
Yes, you can see it in the first picture. It's the "bottle cap" with a hatch just at the right of the base. Actually, that element hides a secret effect that I'm eager to show.
So far it's amazing ! I can't wait to look at the final result, and when you speak about some special effect, i think i know where you're going ;) it looks disturbing in a good way, the base looks nice and vibrant, it makes for a nice contrast with the legs plating and back machinery, oh and the bubbles in the resin are in fact a nice touch, it gives a less "dead foetus in formol" look and a more brain-in-a-jar feel
I can't really see where you plan to place the weapons, i'm intrigued
Ps i almost forgot : what's the model used inside thr jar ?
Thank you.
Yes, I'm not the first to make a project like this so it's easy that you may have seen some grimdark conversion that features similar effects. I don't want to jump ahead of myself in case it doesn't work, so I will share if the results are ok.
The big weapon is magnetized and you can see the attachment in the second picture. I think I'm not adding any more weapons as I don't want to overburden any more the figure that it has so many things going on already.
The model inside is a Mantic zombie body with a Delaque masked head.
ah a fellow heratek
oh and here

rules for darkmech
THEY TURN ME INTO A PICKLED BRAIN, MORTY, I'M PICKLED RIIICK
That’s fantastic! Could you explain a little about the reservoir with the body floating in it? Is that a epoxy fill, or what? All in all that looks absolutely amazing and you should feel very proud!
Thank you!
The stasis container was made using Greenstuffworld's UV resin. I poured one batch with too much height and the curing process made some weird bubbles in the middle. It was not what I was aiming for, but the final result is acceptable.
I'm thinking of making a blog post with all the steps of the project when it's finished.
It’s a great concept. Now I’m thinking about ways I can incorporate more brains in jars
I'm absolutely in favor of more brains in jars.
Reaper minis actually do a really good one as a base
Oh I think the bubbles are amazing, they give life to the whole thing
it looked he still breath on that putrid jar, suffering
That's horrifyingly beautiful.
That's what I feel this faction should be 😊
The model is awesome, but I think the most underappreciated part of this monstrosity is the base! Absolutely fantastic work there! It feels like it has depth and is very immersive. It has a lot of character and very believable transitions between the various elements. Top job!
Thank you very much. I love doing bases. They complete the miniatures by giving them a frame. Even the more simple bases lift the overall presence of the miniature versus a plain black base.
My friends call me MrBases because I always do a little extra effort in my bases and always force them to end theirs before sharing unbased "completed" miniatures xD
I agree wholeheartedly! I end up spending a lot of time on bases nowadays. Even just adding a couple of simple elements can really elevate the model and make it feel like it's rooted in a real place rather than simply standing on display. I always appreciate a good base. Glad you do too!
This is awesome, I was considering doing a similar thing for a Techpriest, what was the model you used for the inside of the jar?
The "victim" is a Mantic zombie body with a Delaque masked face.
I should have posted more pictures of the building process.
This is super cool! what is the liquid in the tube, is that resin or is it actually fluid?
It's UV resin from Greenstuffworld. It cures with ultraviolet light and solidifies transparent. I added a little drop of green paint to tint it.
Very cool, well done!
Looks great!
Fun fact: in Dunecrawlers pilot is indeed embedded into a gelatinous mass, kinda like amniotic fluid. Great job though!
I didn't know! Thank you! It gives it more credibility. What a great coincidence.
I'm fairly new to the AdMech, all my life I have been a greenskins player, but this coming year I want to make a little warband to play Kill Team and Grimdark Future with Mechanicus. And, as a good looter I'm starting with the big machine xD
That's so cool! And very creative
Cool!
I like the marijuana stem tumbleweeds.
I thought that was a glass of paint water on top of it. Good job.
What the fuck have you DONE
what have you creatated

See this is the kind of gross/mad sciencey shit AdMech should have but doesn't
Nice work OP
Do you have a moment to speak about our lord and saviour the omnissiah, who in his wise word once said "mate kitbash some rad stuff !" Or something like that
More seriously if you want some crazy ideas take a look at ex-profoundis, the guy that made this site makes some disturbing yet awesome conversions That and of course almost any inq28 warband
Op's work is indeed an amazing piece which i can't wait to see once finished !
Yes, inq28 and Ex-Profundis are a great inspiration and the main reason I want to make a heretek converted AdMech warband.
This isn't even heretekal. Titanicus has a meeting between two princeps who are tank-bound for better interface with their machines. They have servitors cart their tanks around
I do want to read about the AdMech to better understand the background. I think I will start with the Mars trilogy.
