Any D3-D4 adult players near Frederick, MD want to play tonight?
My team needs some subs for a little cup game we have tonight in Frederick, MD at 10:20pm. Any skaters (or possible even a keeper) around?

Do they not have Covid in Maryland?
They are playing again with a lot of restrictions. Many people are sitting out the season, though.
Of course we do. Its not as rampant as other places, but the rinks seem to handle it well.
I'm not taking the chance right now. It's not worth spreading.
Makes sense, totally respectable.

I could toss it out to the group I skate at Piney with, but I'm across the bridge so I'm out. Let me know!
If you don't mind. Who do you skate with at Piney? My old commander used to play there
I'm in upstate NY, but will hit the road now! We've got nothing up here... 2020.
Enjoy your quarantine ;)
I wish I could. Hockey was my escape and have never gone this long without hitting the ice.
Same. It's been 30 years for me. I put on my first pair of 'skates' at the age of 1 and haven't gone more than 8 months without them since then...until now.
I got so excited by this then remembered I left all my gear in Connecticut
I can play im more of a C level player. And also I need to borrow a pair of gloves... lost mine.
I hate to say this, but you may be to good lol.
Lol I don’t mind playing down. Set up people and not shoot
I skate D and goal in Frederick, though not the best in net. If I can skip out of work early, I'd be interested. I'll keep you updated.
Awesome, thanks.
Locker rooms still unavailable?
Yup. Skimmies in the parking lot
Usually a decent number of people in Benchapp nearby on the player finder. I know novice/bronze has a Benchapp group for subs, the upper divisions may as well. Not sure if you're with one of the more established leagues here but you can probably find contacts going through SFAHL site or maybe through Old Fat Bald Guys. Good luck!
I've been trying to hunt people down on BenchApp this morning.
In HNA, but my team captain set up a little Covid Cup tournie just to get some more ice time.
Skate Frederick Adult Hockey League and OFBG are the two main adult leagues that play here. The commissioner contact info is available on SFAHL.com who might be able to direct you to a captain and maybe aFB message for OFBG, not sure for them the best way. Also post in r/frederickmd, I've posted about local hockey there some time ago and got done responses from people.
You're the man, thanks.
Thanks for the BenchApp shoutout! Love that you're using the free agent finder. We really want to improve that system, so hit me up if you've got ideas or suggestions!
A rating system maybe? Like on the captain/team side rate things like team culture, ice time given to the sub, organization, etc. Player ratings like, punctuality, team player, proper shifts, plays to appropriate skill, etc.
Essentially, rating on things that make subbing/finding a sub a positive experience, rather than rating specific hockey skill. Gimme a sub that shows up on time, slots in the position given without question, hangs out for fourth period, and they can be a pylon out there. A sandbagging hotshot that goes coast to coast all day on 4 minute shifts might win a game but not the kind of skater I'd want back.
Would need to implement in a fashion to minimize abuse, but knowing the sort of team or sub you're joining would be pretty slick.
I love this, and this is exactly the kind of thing I’m looking for for feedback, so thank you! What about when searching for players? Do you just put a callout and wait, or do you want to actively hunt for players on the map or listing?
I'd say have a view for captains that list players, and then a view for players that lists teams needing subs. The map view gets kind of cluttered sometimes and honestly doesn't add much. Captain should just set a home rink and then just have the distance in a list. Add filtering to the list and then have it easy to sort for the things you want.
