Wikipedia butchered Kary Mullis, the "inventor" of the PCR tests
I googled "pcr tests bad" and found an article where some buzzfeed-like site was playing fact-checker again and came across the name Kary Mullis. I've personally not cared at all about the coronavirus thing, it hasn't changed my life in any meaningful way so I just didn't bother.
Googled his name, found a weirdly short Wikipedia article with some very pointed language. Went through the history of it, and found an older version where the language was much more objective.
Here is the current version: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kary_Mullis
Here is the historic version from September 2019: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kary_Mullis&oldid=915449084
There are glaring differences in these versions, and that reminds me how good Wikipedia used to be before whatever the fuck is happening to the internet now happened. Nothing is objective or nuanced anymore, something is either the best thing ever or it's terrible.
I've noticed the same thing happening to other biographies on Wikipedia.
