Went 10,000 mph today then crashed so hard.
I just kinda need to unload my day with people who might be able to relate.
I just had one of those “all the shit hits the fan right now” days. I had a massive hyperfocus surge and I feel like I talked my mouth off all day, no idea if I overwhelmed my coworkers.
I’m a supervisor in retail in a 100 year old building.
. .
My day starts at 8am.
8:30am train new guy on how to do his job
9am: 3 pallets of shipping supplies delivered, gotta check every box/bundle in immediately to get them out of the way of the warehouse workers.
10a: move around desks trying to squeeze one more station in so management (me among others) has somewhere to work
11am: first meeting. I’m 15 minutes late as I forgot about it. No computers readily available, good thing I brought my laptop.
11:45a: 6 more pallets of shipping supplies arrive, leave meeting early to deal with this.
12pm: sprinkler guys show up to replace some heads. They start driving through hallways on a skylift
1p (my scheduled lunch time) second meeting (scheduled last minute)
1:15 during the second meeting: internet outage! All employees loose the ability to do their work, also the meeting is interrupted as we are using teams.
1:45 there’s a significant leak in shipping. Like a 12” sq bin filled every 10 minutes. Emergency maintenance needed. (We find out it’s the rusted out sprinkler drain). I notice maintenance is in the building. I wander around trying to find him.
2:15 maintenance and sprinkler guys get drain leak slowed to manageable rates. Work order submitted
2:30 finally get lunch
3p new hire interview, 7 minutes late to that.
5:45p go through lockers looking for possible dead mouse (again old building). No mouse found.
6p: finally check emails and log into a computer.
6:30p go home
. .
I barely made it home before I crashed.
Very little in my to do list got done.
