About that scanning...

Spoiler

Mandos face. Can just anybody get vital imperial information by showing his/her face? Didn't Mayfeld say it had to be his face (or at least that of an Imperial)? Why gets Mandos face accepted by the Empire's Network? That really bothered me and I thought that was quite an important scene.

Maybe an anti droid measure rather than an explicit user check?

Rewatch it, it's explained in the dialogue when the five of them are discussing who'll go with Mayfeld.

Boba says an ABSOLUTELY LEGENDARY line to excuse himself from going

I was jumping like a kid that scene was so good

If Boba has scanned his face the terminal probably would have crashed under the strain of retrieving millions of decades-old matching facial entries. Lol

Oooooh shit! I just went back to rewatch that part. I heard it the first time but it didn't register with me at first.

I think it scans to make sure you're not either a wanted criminal or a member of the new republic

Mayfeld mentions they've also got DNA scanners so those two combined would usually be pretty effective in stopping any intruders

I rewatched that part and still don't get it. So anyone that is not registered as New Republic has access to Imperial information? Seems like a hugely flawed security system

It was secure info that mayfelds codes and knowledge was able to access. Dins face was needed for captcha and fugitive purposes.

Imps are kinda stupid with their security. They didnt even have backup plans to their doomsday machine.

I don't even get what's the point of bringing Mayfield if Mando is able to just scan his face and leave. I mean, ofc Mayfield takes time with the officer, but they still kill them all eventually.

Mayfeld knows his way around imp bases and knew where the control station was. He also knows proper protocols and how to BS officers.

Mando wouldn’t want to reveal his face. They wouldn’t have know where the base was. Not known what or where the machine even was. Wouldn’t have been able to answer all those questions about his duty numbers etc.
