🌼Let's help hold space for each other to learn and grow.

General Discussion

🌼Hi bloomers (and soon-to-bees)!

We had our first community rule breaking kerfuffle, which is great, because breakdowns are often where we learn the most. I would like to remind people that this subreddit is not a place for politics. If you can't compartmentalize, you may not be ready to participate here.

Instead of just making a rule without explanation, here's why we don't allow it:

Within the space of r/bloomer, my interest here is to facilitate and highlight as many paths as possible for people to discover leading them toward less suffering & more blooming. It's a wide net that will surely step on toes.

That will include controversial figures, types of 'woo' that make some puke, and very realist forms of practice.

In other words, I am using my valuable time to hold space for us to learn from each other, be willing to navigate through difficult conversations, and be a place that promotes each other's well-being (even if you disagree with the 'rightness' of their chosen path).

I ask you to respect my time, but more importantly, respect each other by helping me hold this space. Feel free to report or mod mail with behavior you feel deteriorates this space. With a positive-sum and open disposition, we will create something cool here.

With all of that said, I am adding our second rule: no trolling. This is a subjective rule and I will default to issuing warnings before bans. General bad faith replies, non-substantive name calling, culture war tribalism and other non-based behavior will be removed.

Here's more info on Community Values I intend to uphold in any online community I moderate.

We will allow (and promote) broad leniency toward respectful disagreement. Being disagreeable is often the best way to learn and share from each other, even if it gets heated, but please do so in good faith.

Thank you! Please remember I am human too.
