Struggling as mm hunter

Coming back to the game after a break and Struggling as a mm hunter in 2s/ 3s and not sure what to do. Currently playing around 1600 with a rogue and it feels like we have to play perfectly to win. Often we get what feels like perfect cc chains but we simply don’t have the dmg to kill through hybrid off healing. We also struggle a lot with cleaves because even if I kite the melees they will just turn and kill my rogue.

Now it wouldn’t really bother me if we were stuck at say 2k but being stuck at 1600 I feel like I’m doing something very wrong. The rogue and I have been 2500+ in previous xpacs and we are not clicking abilities, etc. I feel as if we are not bad players yet the rating suggests otherwise. Currently winning at 1600 feels more difficult than winning at 2200+ in cata, mop and wod.
