Do you own a string thru Tele bass? Want to give me a gift this Christmas?

This is my first build and so far so good - the body is made from old growth barn boards and the neck pocket is true. I am looking to confirm the distance from the nut to the string through holes under the bridge. Is it exactly 34" from the nut to the string thru holes? Is it a bit more to allow for some bridge adjustment? If you could respond with a measurement, I promise I'll never ask you for another Christmas gift.

Thank you

set the saddles to about halfway between their travel, then attach the bridge so all the saddles fall at twice the distance from the break point of the nut to the 12th fret (and be careful to make things symmetric across the center line). once your bridge is attached mark off where the string holes would be with something pointy. after that you can unscrew everything then drill them out.

I don’t have a Tele bass, but most likely not. On a 34” bass (check, it should be double the distance of the nut to the 12th fret) the saddles should be roughly 34” or slightly more from the nut. Since the string through holds are even further out, thry can’t be 34” from the nut.

Center of string-thru hole is 35 1/4” measured from far side of nut. Fender 57 P bass

I have photos just not sure how best to share.

The distance from the bridge saddles to the 12th fret should be exactly the same as the distance from the nut to the 12th fret. Hope this helps
