Thinking of getting a Ledger... best way to move assets to it

I am thinking of getting a ledger to store a bunch of coins that I hold on a local wallet to a hardware device. Most are small amounts, so wanted to find out if there is any way to move the account itself without transferring the funds.

Obviously moving all the coins (10 ish on total) being they are circa $50 each I will incur a pretty hefty fee.

I don't suppose a seed phrase for a PC wallet can be 'restored' onto a ledger or something similar to help prevent losing a significant chunk of wallet?
