Best Of /r/anime: 2020 edition!

Announcement

Hello everyone! 2020 was admittedly a rough year, but that's not going to stop us from celebrating the good moments. We're finally nearing the end, which means it's once again time for our annual Best Of!

Categories, schedule, and awards

We'll be using the same format as last year - there will be twelve different categories, and every day a new post for the chosen category will be created for you to nominate and vote for your favourites:

This year, reddit will be making a switch to using community awards for this event. We'll be following suit by giving an exclusive Best Of r/anime 2020 award to the winners of each category. This award will come with the same benefits as receiving a Platinum award (reddit premium + 700 coins).

*For the best episode discussion threads, the top three nominees will be selected and the mods will pick three comments in each thread to receive gold.

So, for the next few days, look back at your favourite r/anime moments of 2020, and get ready to nominate those when voting starts!

Have fun!

I was wondering when this was going to happen. Already know a few things I'll be nominating so I can't wait!

So this overlaps with the r/anime awards 2020 public voting?

Actually these are entirely separate awards about posts and comments in r/anime as opposed to the awards about anime themselves that the r/anime awards cover.

Edit: You're right, I read the comment wrong.

Public nomination voting for the r/anime Awards takes place over January 1-8, which this overlaps with.

Ah I read their comment wrong. Thanks!

No linking the best of 2019 thread in case someone might like to see what content is deserving of the honours?

Ahhh right, that would be useful. I've added it in. Thanks!

The Best Of awards are mostly funded by reddit. The rest is made up from community coins earnt from guildings within the subreddit or coins awarded by various awards to u/autolovepon who is the discussion thread bot.

A lot of great nominees this year! I'm looking forward to the best comment/commenter and funniest moments threads in particular.

Me too! There's always great stuff in threads I never even see.

I only found out about the One Piece episode 9001 thread from the awards last year, that was hilarious.

No most controversial user?

That's the only thing I could maybe ever win.

I'm confused.

If the nominations are going to take place on the listed day, how are some nominations already listed in the nomination wiki?

3
crobat3OPhttp://myanimelist.net/animelist/crobat3•

The wiki was created to keep things running smoothly and for archival purposes once the event ends.

Currently, it contains nominations that were collated over the course of this year. When the posts for the respective categories go up, the nominations already in the wiki will be added into the post for users to vote on them. Users can continue to submit more nominations when the categories open, and I'll add those into the wiki as we go along.

Just double checking, but there's no issue with making two separate comments for two separate nominations for a category right?

3
crobat3OPhttp://myanimelist.net/animelist/crobat3•

Yup, no issue with that.
