Looking for advice in path to take
I am junior at my university and will have 4.5 semesters of research experience in a cancer biology lab, summer research in a neuro lab and a microscopy internship which i have the option to go to again..Along with that I will have accumulated ~35 to 40k in student loans (a mix of federal and private). My primary concern is what I will be doing after graduation as I come closer to it.
Earlier in my undergrad I was very much go for a PhD and was a bit naive to understand how much of a commitment that is, but I do have a passion for research so I am certain no matter what I do it will be in the back of my mind.
Regardless of a PhD however I plan on working in industry no academia due to my ideal working environment and compensation.
My plan based on surfing through many forums and subreddits is to try and secure a position as a RA or tech for 2 to 3 years and apply for a PhD or a masters depending on if I am compensated for pursuing one from my company. I am in commuting distance to Boston and Cambridge and fortunately my mother would allow me to love under the same agreement as my brother which is only $300 rent. Through this I would be able to put most income on loans and not qccure significant interest but this part may be better suited for r/personalfinance.
I really am a bit lost and unsure on whether or not I should go straight to phd or try and work, I do have good grades and experience so I likely have a decent chance in going to a phd program, but the combined concern of no gmp experience, loans and uncertainty worries me.
Any input is helpful and atm I am seeking internships in biotech/pharma in mass which should help me in whatever decision I make should I secure something.
