Omg karencore 😂

For it to be authentic karencore it has to be from Hobby Lobby-gotta have the stench of using your religious freedom to deny healthcare and funding terrorism in the name of biblical artifacts

So this is awful and it was per se abuse that they were packing 12 kids into an RV to live at one time...but also do you guys ever wonder if people randomly stumble on this stuff on Imgur? I wonder what goes through their minds

52
[deleted]•

I used to browse Imgur. They are completely unaware it's original use was to host Reddit photos and their reactions can range from wtf, to pissed we're even using their site. If they see a picture with loads of upvotes and no comments they actually get angry. It's a strange thing. And if you explain it ten times, it's not enough. This would confuse, anger, befuddle and piss them off in that order.

That place is a dumpster fire and I refuse to post my pictures there anymore because of that. I shared my wedding ring on a Reddit post once and had people on Imgur insulting it and calling my husband cheap.

15
[deleted]•

This is exactly what I'm talking about lol.

And I'm sure it was a beautiful ring bought with love.

7
modernjaneausten•

It was! I picked it out myself and I love it very much.

I’ve seen them get upset for people posting selfie’s that were used in r/blunderyears.

5
[deleted]•

Posting a selfie on Imgur is an actual sin that will get you sent to hell lol. I think they might all be ugly? Not sure. The fact they don't know it's an image hosting site is hilarious though.

I don't even know where to begin. Like none of this is remotely understandable. Why did the one in the closet need a top??

41
Awkward-Yak-2733•

I believe that Jill wrote it was to prevent pulling down the clothes.

24
AMPlants•

Maybe don't keep clothes above your baby, Jill??

51
Awkward-Yak-2733•

Or maybe don't keep your baby in a small closet to begin with.

41
siritachi87•

Or maybe don’t have so many babies you can’t responsibly care for.

So many options, Jill!

32
austin_the_boston•

Because the clothes might fall down while they were moving.

evj16•

I don’t understand how anyone can think this is okay. But then again Shrek and Jillpm lack common sense and brain cells.

Is the second photo supposed to be a lock or are they hinges?

Having a 'crib' elevated like that worries me so much. I used to roll out of my bed all the time up until I was ~5. It was to the point that my mom had to put a plastic gate on the bed and I would still roll through it sometimes. At least I was only like 3 feet off the ground.

17
countessmeemee•

I could feel the bruises when their stupid van lurches or brakes suddenly and the child is violently thrust into wooden bars with no padding! This is such straight up child abuse.

Honestly I couldn't tell either. I zoomed all the pictures I could find but still wasn't sure.

8
[deleted]•

I just noticed the gold metal pieces on the other side that are more likely to be locks. Like the sliding kind that would normally be on a door.

10
WrongPuddingOPGleaning sulphur balls from Sodom and Gomorrah•

You may be right. I just added a zoomed in pic for the gold pieces.

austin_the_boston•

The one in the middle is a latch, so the cage doesn’t accidentally open.

8
[deleted]•

I feel conflicted about this information now lol

Good that they're not letting their children just fall on the floor but also worrying that they're in a cage that they're worried about it accidentally falling open anyway.

There are many steps a parent can take before doing this. There is actually a thriving side rail economy on this crazy planet.

The RV one to me could be justified. When I was little I used to go camping a lot with my grandparents and they had a top bunk thing in their RV where I would sleep. My grandma always said that I "sleep like a clock" meaning I rolled around so much. There were a few times that I legit rolled out of the bunk and landed on my brother below. My grandpa had to make me a "gate" so I would stop rolling out. However he made it so I could open it so I could pee at night time.

A gate can be helpful but it's the fact that they are locking the kids in it that is my major concern. The closet one seems very cruel and abusive.

17
AMPlants•

I don't agree with them building these but in a way, it seems safer for the kids, maybe? Like the alternative it that they sleep god knows where in "beds" with older siblings. Idk, I'm definitely not defending it but I also wonder if it did, indeed, keep the babies safer.

If the RV is moving babies need to be in an approved, crash tested, car seat. Not a crib, not a cage.

24
AMPlants•

Yeah, I commented above that I don't understand why they would have clothes above the baby. Also, are they driving this around??? I guess I thought they were just living in it temporarily because they didn't have a house and this was a cheap option. Wait, if they are driving, it's absolutely not safer! The kids should be in car seats.

8
rarestbird•

They were living in it fulltime for a year or two, but now they use it only when they travel, but they travel a LOT and are on the road for weeks at a time. There are nowhere near enough seat belts for everyone, much less car seats.

There are clothes above the closet cage because with up to 15 people living in an RV, you can't waste space just to keep your kid safe and comfortable.

11
[deleted]•

I used to roll around a lot as a child too so my mom put a plastic gate on the side of the bed so I wouldn't end up on the floor. If there's a lack of space I get that. The locks feel like too much.

The closet one does feel worse to me. It also feels incredibly small. A child would grow out of that almost instantly. They couldn't get one of those cribs that attach to a normal bed or a co-sleeper?

7
All_Weather_Hiker•

my mom just put me on a mattress on the floor (no box spring). low tech solution. Sofia looks way too big for that "crib."

12
SassiestPantsRodspringa•

It's not. Nothing like this can be legally sold in the US, and any social worker or other mandated reporter would have a heart attack if they saw this. That being said, CPS is overwhelmed in every state and they have to choose their battles.

19

What the actual fuck what the FUCK is this

5
deferredmomentum•

Why is this less safe than a crib? If the baby wouldn’t be able to climb out why does it matter if it has a top? I’m definitely not saying it’s good, it’s certainly stupid but I’m just confused as to why it’s so bad

1†
PatronymicPenguinTokyo (Thread) Drift•

Huge fire hazard. There's no way for a child who's locked in to escape in event of an emergency, and it would at least slightly delay someone who was attempting to get them out.
