Need to mount a vesa 200x200 TV onto a vesa 200x100 mount

Install/Placement

Hello,

My mom recently purchased a TV with a 200 x 200 vesa mount on the back, and is trying to mount it onto a mount that's 200 mm horizontal, 100 mm vertical. I've been trying to find an adapter to attach all 4 mounting holes to the back of the TV, but I haven't been having any luck. Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?

Yes. You need to buy a proper 200x200 mount that matches what's behind the TV.

Would rather avoid having to buy and install a new mount, the one we have is rated for more than twice the weight of the new TV.

First, it's not only about the weight, it's also about the total contact surface.

Let's say you hang a 55incher to a 200x100 mount and then you bump against it while moving around the room. The lever effect is huge (the distance between the edge of the TV and the closest screw of the mount is large) and there is a possibility that you simply rip the mount off the wall along with the TV.

If, on the contrary, if you had it hung to a 400x200 mount, then that distance is reduced greatly and so is the lever effect. It stands greater chances of staying on the wall.

And the second point is, your mount doesn't fit so you need a proper one anyway.
