Been playing for 3 years now and I still don't understand this game

A friend of mine wanted me to chime in on this game and so I did, I have refused to spend a penny for it, Im not even sure why I play at all, I try to put as little time on it as I can.. Currently at 400m ish might. I kinda like the game for the community of the guild, helping each other for events, progression. I have always thought that one day I'll be strong enough to resist getting zero'ed all the time (recently realized this isn't ever gonna happen)

Thing is, I still haven't found a single reason why I should go through the headache of actually attacking anyone. Studying troops, lineup, composition and items just to attack someone and get what? Some ressources? Who cares I have 5billion of each in my bags. Some might? Just a number... Don't care?

There is absolutely no goal in attacking but Yet as soon as my shield drop no matter what kingdom I'm in, it takes less than 5minutes to get zero'ed. Like who has time to actually scan the map for shield drops just for NOTHING? I genuinely don't understand at all. When my shield drops it's as if you'd win 100$ to attack me, people want it SO Bad.

And I'm like annoyed by it a little bit.. And think.. Well as long as I get leader before my next research I guess it doesn't matter all that much..

I am so fascinated by the speed it takes for people to spot me every time, I wish someone could explain it to me. Although I have doubts that people have some kind of bot/cheat to detect shield... But Still why would you bother?
