Lack of NSF Certification?

Hello,

I am interested in purchasing a new water filter because my brita loves to grow mold even a day after i clean it.

I live in an industrial city and my apartments plumbing is kind of suspect. Since I am in a rental I cannot install a reverse osmosis filter.

The Berkey seemed like a good option, until I read that NYT article. I realize this sub will probably be biased - just kind of looking for your opinions on your water filters. I am a little concerned that the company is being misleading.
