What’s to stop you from taking the job and continuing to look at those other companies while working there? Also, have you considered making a counteroffer? Perhaps sharing with the offerer the problems you have with their offer?

I’ve never been in your position so I can’t tell you what I did nor how I handled it. Only how I hope I would have done. Good luck.

Ok. Sounds like stability might be the best thing for you right now, then. As long as the work itself is pleasant/safe, and the pay is enough for your needs, it's better not to get too hung up on "status" and "worth" and "keeping up with the joneses".

Take the job, but keep looking on the side. If you get a better offer, don't feel like you have to be loyal or anything.

In the meantime, if you aren't seeing a mental health professional about your struggles with confidence etc, you should probably do so, if possible.

It all depends on your situation.

Are you struggling to make ends meet, or will you be ok without a job for a little while? (eg. living with your parents...)

What's the situation with your industry? Are jobs common, or is every company in trouble because of Covid?

Who is the person making the job offer? Does it come straight from your manager, or is it HR/HQ? Do you trust your manager on a personal level?

Do you like working at this company? Do you like your boss, co-workers? etc

If you are in a position to, then honesty is an approach you can take - talk to your manager if you trust them, tell them that you think the pay offer isn't comparable to what you think the role is worth. See if you can negotiate the pay up, or at least have the possibility that you can get a raise later if you perform well.

A job applicant is not a beggar, you need to take care of your own interests. The company will take care of it's own

So you laid your cards on the table, as did they. If I was in your position, I would take the job. Just keep looking. You are young and inexperienced. In 6 months to a year, you'll be out of there anyway. And don't take it personally. This company, lowballing you is making a big mistake.

You’re thinking the wrong way. This isn’t about your self worth. As the guy above said, look more rationally at this. If you need the job bad, maybe counter offer. Will the experience here help you down the line? I had poor grades in college, was in the same position. Jumped jobs every 3 years and fixed that.

Uh I’m feeling conflicted about my new job offer. Is it true that beggars can’t be choosers?
