Move on to the next groups faster. If you pass up the vaccine, who cares if they get sick and die? The faster we isolate the antivaxxers, the better.

And yet we’re supposed to stay at home and stop living our lives just because of health care workers having a tough time? If they won’t even get vaccinated why should I give a fuck

Yeah, I hate that it’s making me feel this way too. And I know it’s not all health care workers by any means. But I’m struggling with the juxtaposition of articles of health care workers “begging” people to stay safe etc. for their sake right next to articles about them refusing the thing that is going to actually make this go away.

It doesn’t seem fair to withdraw our consideration from the majority of health care workers who are getting vaccinated because of what their peers might be doing.

It’s not a few bad apples. It’s the outright majority

It’s primarily nursing home staff. If that matters to your deciding what to do. Also, no one has asked you to stop living your life.

I’m already vaccinated and I’ll wear a mask at the grocery store or whatever, but I don’t avoid being with my friends. I’m not built to be alone in this world

No one is built to live alone. I guess you can at least be sure that after your immunity develops, you won’t get seriously ill. No information on whether that will impact your ability to infect your friends.

But they have, my state has put limits on how many friends we can have in the house, how many households can meet, ect. And that has happened around the world using the phrase "Think of the healthcare workers" and "hear my story" Well if these healthcare workers are not holding their end of the bargain up by trying to end the pandemic asap, why should I?

Because it’s just some of them. You would be punishing everyone. Also, how are you going to feel after a gathering where your friends get sick? It happens time and time again.

So it's my job to keep people safe when they refuse the very thing that would end the pandemic? We are delaying the return to normalcy because of the feelings of "some" nurses but yet I am supposed to feel bad for them?

I am young, I won't die from covid and there's a good chance I wont even have any long term effects. My friends are the same. I am taking precautions so the hospitals wont get overwhelmed but if I am forced to take precautions and many healthcare workers refuse the basic thing that would make me not have to take precautions why the fuck would I?

Open the floodgates. No point in having a targeted rollout of vaccines are just going to sit unused

They shouldn’t sit there and take forever to convince their medical staff of the benefits of a vaccine. Give it to the public and move on. Giving it to hospitals to distribute was a bad idea. They clearly are more concerned with reducing their staff sick time, than vaccinating people. And it’s also forcing people to head into hospitals, that are already swamped with covid infection, to get a covid vaccine.

My hospital has only now released some of its stock to patients, but they are still holding a lot back to convince their staff and students (it’s a medical school) take up the vaccine. They are also only giving their stock to people who have used their hospital in the past 24 months. So folks who haven’t used their services, but still qualify for the vaccine, are out of luck.

Mess.

My parents are getting their first dose of the vaccine in the next few days. Neither they nor I see them as guinea pigs. We are at a crisis point and must not lose sight of what is the best chance we have of reducing the burden on our hospitals and health care workers.

You do know that 50000 humans have already gotten these vaccines as part of safety trials. Who cares if rats didn't get it 9 months ago?
