I suppose it's also possible that whoever said Pence called in the national guard was the one lying. 

I guess one important question is whether Pence would have even been able to call in the national guard.

I think the only legal options are: 1. President or 2. Secretary of defense plus governor.

So maybe the untruthful part is the claim he did it immediately. I can't see it having been Pence legally giving the order in any case.

 Maybe Pence didn't technically order it, just encouraged it and took over coordinating it after the initial order was given.

I'm a Pence fan, have a huge crush on him (don't judge, it is what it is) but I question the validity only to stay objective. Mostly because I have a natural bias to promote Pence, just keeping myself in check.

I've read Trump was calling senators asking them to not certify the election *while* the capitol was being invaded. He was probably looking for that confirmation before sending in the national guard.

Pence can’t, the Mayor can’t.

Only DoD and the President.

According to reports it was activated by Pence and Pelosi, Chuck, because the DOD didn’t want blow back from either party. Also they went with non uniform to aid and assist rather than boots and guns.

How exactly, with a bunch of unarmed people waving flags? Lol a coup would be the military showing up in force and armed, entering the house and senate then arresting pence and everyone in there.

Do we know for fact this is true? Assuming it is, why did he have to? Why didn't the president?
