Deciding what to do
Hello all - 1st time posting
TW living child and stillbirth
So this is my story. I had my first child at 32. Conceived quickly, easy pregnancy, healthy 9 year old now. We started trying for another when I was 35. No luck, started pursuing fertility treatment but stopped for a number of reasons (husband heart problems, I went back to school, elderly parents moved in with us).
Last year, at age 40, I fell pregnant! It was such a surprise. We had only had sex once in the previous month! I was so happy and thought she was my miracle baby to complete my family. Totally healthy pregnancy only to result in a cord accident in my 37th week and a stillbirth. I was/am devastated to say the least.
So my question is - what now? We had accepted the fact that we wouldn’t have another child. But now after coming so close all I can think about is another baby. I cycle back and forth between thinking it’s too late to start trying and to just accept the fact we are past that stage and wanting to get right back into fertility and try IVF as soon as possible.
For those who have been through IVF. Would you do it for baby #2? Or spare yourself the stress and be grateful for the child you have. I just don’t know what to do.
