Do you have PVD or are you just wondering about it? Flashers are just that, little flashes of light. They are supposed to go away after a while with PVD. They are uncomfortable. They are obvious and not subtle.

Follow up from DM thread since I decided to stalk your profile for more info. See a retina specialist ASAP. Regular ophthalmologists may be able to spot small tears that the specialist can due to better equipment and experience.

PVD is something that happens more often with serious age, like retirement, and earlier for people who are very nearsighted (shape of eyeballs being different). PVD also typically you can see a circular floater once it happens called a Weiss ring (see Wikipedia).

I had my retina issues before LASIK. that included sudden new floaters, flashing light patterns randomly with an after-burn (like after a flash photo you blink and see the light still) and a little retina tear. I actually have that little piece of retina as a floater that I have had to learn to ignore. I also sometimes see tiny tiny little floaters moving in time with my heartbeat. Retina specialist did full exams and didn’t see any issues. Also I have some lattice degeneration on the edges of the retina which may be the source of some of my symptoms as well.

A torn retina can have the same symptoms as PVD so you have to get your eye examined.
