Short and sweet.
After reading in the second time, I realized I'd never seen a plum tree bloom. Seeing the pictures, I think you chose a really wonderful symbol for the piece.
With the title, this feels pretty complete -- there's a clear scene, visuals, and nice symbolism. Plus you get some nice sounds in there with the alliteration and the "a" rhyme in lines 1&3.
Well done OP
I am so glad you liked it, thank you for the feedback!
I really love this. The vulnerable bluntness of the first line melts into soft imagery, universal humanity, and utter safety. A real celebration of family at its best. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for the feedback (:
Oh, God! I love the association that you made between plum trees blossoming and the bond that grows between you and your father, between the spring (the reborn of life) and the new chapter of relation father-son. In my head, I saw a sunny spring day.
It did happen on a sunny day, a bit less than a year ago, so your idea is spot on!
Awww, I love Haikus. Been reading them since so long and trying to write my own. I love how much this poem expresses. The way you compare the father with spring warms my heart. Just keep reading and reading it again. Thank you for inspiring me to write my own haiku!
This made my heart float! I haven’t come out to my parents and am so afraid to, so this haiku gives me hope 💛 I’m moved by the imagery and symbolism of the plum tree as the core heart of the narrative. Such storytelling in so few words. Beautiful!
I am happy it gives you hope, thanks for reading!
