Question about Jailbreaking

I recently acquired a ps3 fat 80g on firmware 2.53. I've been looking for a guide similar to https://vita.hacks.guide/ or https://3ds.hacks.guide/ but haven't had much luck.

I've read several other guides, some stating I am able to install cfw on firmwares below 3.55. Other information I've found states I need to be on firmware 4.82, in which they use a web browser exploit to downgrade.

This is why I am getting confused as to all I'm looking for is a replacement for my old 60g fat, so I can play my old ps1/ps2 games that have been collecting dust for a few years.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

--Update-- Just installed the newest version of Rebug CFW. Since I was on fw 2.53, I just did a direct install, flagged my QA, and now I am ready to go.

Now to get an external HD and start ripping my old PS1/PS2/PS3 games.

Install OFW 3.55 then CFW you want.

ps3 xploit only supports firmware 4.80/4.87 so install ofw 4.80 or any firmware 4.80-4.87 then do ps3 xpolit once the patch is flashed install evilnat 4.87 use hanib toggle qa to downgrade to rebug 4.82 or 4.84 cex then convert to dex in rebug toolbox

Didn't need to use ps3 xploit. Since I was on a fw below 3.55, I could do just a direct install of cfw.
