The Match
- Kasai & Numazawa vs. Sasaki & Miyamoto - BJW - 2008 - Resurrection
"Lighttube Double Board Deathmatch - 6/14/2008. Arguably the best tag team deathmatch ever. This will never make it but..worth a shot? HUGE spots, some solid wrestling and great story telling for a deathmatch. People always think 'Zandig getting hung by meathooks' and 'Ian Rotten doing blahblah' when they think 'deathmatches'. Big Japan has made this often wrote-off form of wrestling an artform by combining insanity with solid work and excellent storytelling.
"... While it may not be "Cena v Punk' or 'Michaels v Hart' or whatever you consider "top rate working" to the casual eye, there's a LOT going on here, more than people getting beat about the face and neck with lighttubes. It's the same brawls people mark out for domestically but opening with decent puro-style wrestling, great highspots done for a reason, legitimately dangerous shit and hot crowds. Big Japan may have started out as a purely gimmick fed with their mid-90's stuff but they have really evolved the deathmatch style of wrestling to include decent work outside of the brutal stuff"
