Home sick

201 days with out her. I've been struggling with it, but doing fair. Today I'm home sick. I got my usual winter sinus infection when the weather changed. I'm achey and tired and my right sinus is plugged despite doing Airbornes and using the Neti pot. But what really sucks is realizing I'm in this alone. No backup. No one to feed the dogs for me. No one to run errands, or pick up meds from the supermarket. It's just me. My options are do without or suck it up.

****EDIT****

Not my usual winter sinus infection. I tested positive for Covid19 this morning. The damn virus that we spent all last year avoiding so she wouldn't get it. And I got it working one of her ministry events last weekend. *sigh*

Yeah, the first time I was sick after was a real eye opener. Just having someone with you feels better somehow. I hope you mend quickly!

I'm lucky enough not to have been sick yet, but I feel that. No one has my back now. I have four pets to take care of and one of my dogs doesn't like people coming into my house, so even though I have family nearby, they won't be able to help with that kind of stuff. They could pick up stuff for me and drop it on my porch so at least that's something I guess. I try to keep myself as healthy as possible so I can avoid that.

I’m actually terrified of getting sick, I haven’t been sick yet. My worst fear is something like Alzheimer’s or dementia, my kid has been candid to me about this and said I would go straight to a facility. My husband would have never allowed that 😔 I’m definitely alone

My husband knew exactly how to take care of me when I got my yearly bout of the crud or when I got a migraine or had insomnia.... Now I struggle to do it on my own. My kids are old enough to help out some, but they don't know how to do it like he did. They won't go run me a bath or make sure I stay hydrated or make sure I eat because they're keeping track. They won't come in with my sleep mask and my favorite soft blanket to ease my migraine and they definitely don't know the pressure points he knew that would make them go away. It's a lonely life and one that makes us see exactly how lucky we were. I hope you feel better soon.

My GF was a nurse..and a very sweet and kind one at that. She had the patience of an angel. Whenever I was sick, she took such great care of me with so much love. I felt really looked after when I couldn't do anything. She made me soup, got me meds, gave me anything I needed like blankets. I miss her so much. The only thing I got going for me is that I'm always pushing forward, even when I have a fever or sinus infection. She always tucked me in bed when I was ignoring the fact I was sick..that's something I'm going to miss.

I also have yearly sinus infections, but I've lucked out so far. Working from home and social distancing has been good for one thing it seems.

How are you feeling u/codecowboy ? How serious were your Covid symptoms? I hope you've recovered and are feeling well now.

I had a light case all things considered. No fever or lung involvement. That being said the body ache and fatigue were legendary. Easily the top 3 sickest I have ever been. It was awful. I'm recovering now but still exhausted all the time.

You can do this! It will never be the same but after a time you will adapt or “get used to it”. I miss the little traditions, the concern, the loving. But over time I’ve developed my own traditions and deal with it much better. It probably doesn’t help with wounds so fresh but it can and will get better.
