Otonomo, Leading Platform and Marketplace for Vehicle Data, to List on Nasdaq Through a Business Combination with $SAII

Filings

Otonomo is the premier one-stop shop for vehicle data. Since its founding in 2015, Otonomo has built a vehicle data platform and marketplace that now fuels an ecosystem of 16 OEMs, fleets and more than 100 service providers. The platform ingests more than 4 billion data points per day from over 40 million global connected vehicles, then reshapes and enriches them, in order to accelerate the time to market for new services that improve the in-and-around the car experience. Otonomo’s platform allows automotive OEMs the opportunity to create new revenue streams by enabling the utilization of the vast amounts of data vehicles generate on a daily basis and that OEMs are required to store and maintain.

In addition to its proprietary data platform, Otonomo has developed a robust suite of SaaS offerings that provide data consumers with additional capabilities and vertically specific applications.  Privacy by design and neutrality are at the core of Otonomo’s platform, which enables GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy-regulation-compliant solutions using both personal and aggregate data.

Otonomo vehicle data is being utilized by organizations and businesses across diverse areas, including, but not limited to fleet management, insurance, in-vehicle management, emergency services, mapping, electric vehicle (EV) management, subscription-based services, parking, predictive maintenance, in-vehicle services, traffic management and smart cities.

I opened a position in SAII, but a potential bear case here is valuation. Otonomo was valued at about $420 mil i think last year, so this is a triple of last year valuation. They're also only doing $400k rev at the moment.

Having said that, exciting area, exciting major partnerships, small downside for a spac.

None of this is investment advice of course.

Yea I considered revenue with regards to valuation as well, but if the recent landscape (of the last year) tells us anything, is that valuations are far from what they should be.

The deciding factor for me was their partnerships with big brands in major continents. Ford for NA, BMW Group in EU, and Mitsubishi Nissan in Asia markets. Amazon is an indirect consumer of their platform, and that could develop more, since they are actively looking to go all ev with their delivery fleet. Otonomo potentially covers both fleet management and various EV data services on their platform.

Agree. After all they manage to double the number of vehicles on the road over 19-20. Not just some concept-only biz but a biz with actual systems on the road. This is the kind of business where network effects can snowball. That's why i'm in though i still balk a bit at their current valuation. That the stock dropped sub-11 for a short while really helped lol

The question i still have, why they have not yet monetized their services in a way they could make meaningful revenues. In their invesmtent presentation they present transparent pricing models on a per car / per annum basis, with which they would make much more money. Why are they providing their services basically for free ATM?

seems cheap for what it is sub $11

Curious if anyone can provide some comparison between what Otonomo offers and the BlackBerry/Amazon partnership. They seem to offer the same thing: a simplified, uniform API for vehicle data that OEMs and third party developers can utilize. Understanding that, I assume these two are competitors?

Also, seeing as BMW uses QNX in their vehicles, is Otonomo's system built ontop of the BlackBerry QNX OS?

Understanding the autonomous vehicle data/software/OS ecosystem is getting confusing...

On a recent conference call with investors, Otonomo said 2020 revenues were only about $400,000, heading to $3 million in 2021. The company sees revenue of about $600 million by 2025. It grows very fast. It is a good stock to hold for a few years.

Any opinions? No plan who they're and market doesn't seems excited

It's a long hold for me, with ev and automation being the future, data processing firms and API's are going to be pivotal powering these on the software end IMO. Give the investor presentation a look, they have a solid network and plan for scaling. Their SaaS have huge growth potential particularly their Fleet Management, which can service a wide range of delivery, trucking/logistics companies.

It's not as exciting as Lucid or Microvast, but the SaaS offered here and similar to it would power and manage a lot of the hardware in those.

Wow, seriously does not excite. Long term might become a juggernaut in analytics for mobility
