I would love this for enhance shamans and mages! Or all classes

I unfortunately know very little about either of those two, but I'm sure other content creators will come up with something similar! If you'd like similar type of content, I'd check out Serious Gaming on YouTube. He's very knowledgeable about TBC in general, but especially on (prot) Paladins if that's your thing!

Ok cool! Thanks for the recommendation. I’m super stoked for tbc so this content is making the wait better

I believe he has a pre-bis/T4 gearing guide for both mages and enhance shaman. I like that he doesn't necessarily recommend your absolute pre-bis, but instead picks relatively attainable items.

Glad I could help! Can't wait either, super hyped for it!

The guide is literally for every class, just swap "get blacksmith weapons" with "get tailoring set for mages" and youre done.

Priority #1: be a tank warrior instead.

Priority #2: be the raid leader or GM so they actually let you be the token arms warrior.

Most guilds will want at least one Arms warrior for the entirety of TBC. Fury also scales extremely well into T6, making it a pretty competitive spec :). But hey, if you wanna spam 1 button you do you!

Playing a DPS warrior in TBC is still better than playing a warlock was at any point in classic.

There’s more to classes than parsing...

Not really what I'm talking about. I'm talking about actual viability as a contributing DPS, not how much you like playing it.

Warriors in TBC will do less damage than some of the top classes, but not literally half.

The issue isnt the viability of the spec or the class, every class is pretty viable. The issue is how inflexible the roster is once you've accounted for the classes you must have in the raid like the tanks + healers + raid buffs/debuffs you want.

Assuming 3 warlocks and hunters (which will probably be on the low side of normal) you will only have like 2 or 3 flex spots that every Classic warrior/rogue will be trying to get into. And that ignores the fact that the group composition probably wont fit having all of the flex spots be melee dps.

no much less though. A great DPS warrior will out dps a okay lock.

Imagine playing a dps warrior in TBC.

Imagine being such a metaslave that you stop playing a class you enjoy because its not the absolute best anymore

He also completely ignores the fact that basically every guild is going to run an Arms warrior for the entirety of the expansion, but that's ok :)

basically every guild is going to run an Arms warrior for the entirety of the expansion

I don't think this is a very strong argument. I would conservatively guess that DPS warriors encompass about ~15-20% of the current end-game raiding scene (6-8 DPS wars per 40-man raid).

If you run 1 arms warrior in your 25-man TBC raid, that's 4%. So something's gotta give.

While I agree that you shouldn't be a slave to the meta, the reality is that some guilds will be, and you will be losing opportunities based on your decision to play the class that you play.

If zero people rerolled for TBC, you'd have an abundance of DPS warriors with no place to put them from a raid comp standpoint. So the reality is some proportion of DPS warriors will have to reroll if they're serious about raiding.

I'm not saying there'll be an abundance of spots for DPS warriors. I completely agree with you that there are way too many of us for there to be spots for every single warrior that wants to DPS in TBC. My point was more towards the people that comment on this thread pretending all guilds will run 0 DPS warriors, since even the top private server guilds run one. I don't think it's impossible for more casual guilds to have 1-2 DPS warriors per roster, including a Fury one.

I agree though, some proportion of DPS warriors will have to reroll. But those that are likely to are the same ones that only care about being #1 on the meters, which I believe is a large proportion of the warriors in Classic. Those who enjoy the warrior gameplay and are good should still be able to find themselves a spot.

Imagine being as determined as you are only to feel rejection when you literally cant get into 25m raids

Right, because every raid is a meta-tryhard raid. Believe it or not, some people play this game... for fun.
