G3-Instant setup without Protect

Question

So am I crazy or is there no way to get this camera set up without a Protect server running? I cannot connect to the bluetooth, and the Protect app finds no devices and only wants to set up a Protect server.

Is there a way of doing this I haven't tried? Do I maybe have a faulty device? Or did I just waste $35 because the "UniFi Protect is required to run this product with full functionality" is horribly misleading.

Here is the general rule: If you have no interest in using Protect dont buy any of the Unifi cameras

I have had multiple cameras running RSTP with no issue and didn't realize things had changed so much in the newer generations. I had no idea that you could not even run the setup on a camera without a Ubiquiti NVR or I would not have bought it. Their website implies it can still be functional without Protect. Guess it's time to buy a WyzeCam lol

You’re not crazy. You need protect to set it up. Welcome to the new UI.
