Am I Asexual?
I'm really new to posting on here So sorry if this is weird.
I'm Female [27] and believed for the longest time that I was Pansexual, but for a while now I've wondered if I am asexual. I'm a huge romance junky, like huge, I read a lot of "Housewife porn" aka romance books with sex in them. I masturbate, not often but you know when I'm in the mood. I'm also a virgin. When I was little all I wanted to be was a mother, like I use to want nothing but to be a stupid housewife with a husband [I know that sounds lame but it was my dream] I also want to note here that I have a huge love/hate relationship with touch.
When I say that I mean, I can't stand people I don't know touching me, like I'm hyper aware of someone sitting in a seat next to me and their arm is pressed against mine, drives me mad. But on the other hand when I'm "low on battery" [social battery] generally I got to the people I love and trust to just hold their hands and "recharge" my battery. So generally on dates I seem standoffish because I honestly don't like holding hands ect. I use to think it was because of my childhood trauma [Which we'll leave out here] but I was thinking about it recently and it's because I always had this insane part of me that believed I would be forced to do more if I held their hands [like they would expect me to give them head or jack them off] Which I didn't want so I would get intense anxiety about it.
As for romance and my love of romantic books, I've always enjoyed the build up, the kissing and touching, I would get excited feelings about these moments; But once the actual sex started, nothing. No warm feeling in the tummy if you know what I mean. I even remember telling a friend once that sometimes I forget sex is a real thing, like a thing that exists out of fiction or books/movies. Not all the time, I know sex is real, but for some reason in my mind sometimes I forget that its a thing.
I've always liked the idea of romantic relationships, I've always wanted to be in them, and when I was little I thought I would even LIKE sexual relationships. But as I've grown older I've started to see things about myself. For one, I've always thought sex was weird; like I just don't like the idea of anyone being near my area, it feels awkward to me and the "Fluids" that come with it I find highly unattractive and gross. I always chopped that stuff up to being a virgin, once I've done the deed I might like these things better. The problem is that even more recently, about three months ago, I decided that I didn't want to have sex, like ever. Again I chopped this up to my touch problems and being a fucked up human who can't seem to understand dating, I've even said it was because I don't want kids so I don't want to risk ever having them.
The only other thing is I don't know if I've ever actually psychically been attracted to someone, like of course I've crushed on people, I've imagined dating people, but actually physically turned on by a persons face/body. I have no idea if that has ever happened to me. I've always explained my sexuality as I have a hard time understanding physical attraction. "Congrats you have a face" I just don't get how bone structure or whatever is hot. I like small things; like sometimes I like eye color, but usually it's small quirks found in that person. I've always believed I was Pansexual because I fall in love with peoples minds, feelings, souls and never understood their body/face attractions. I thought that was what pansexual meant, then I found out about Panromantic, which after reading about I feel really got me deep down.
It is the sexual vs romantic that I now understand. I still fantasize about cuddling and kissing, but I don't think I can actually ever have sex. I thought I couldn't be asexual because I do like masturbation [again when I'm actually in the mood] and I read adult books, comics, anime, and, watch tv/movies with it in there. I do get the turned on feelings, but it's never during the full on sex parts, it's usually during a kiss or an intense moment of will they won't they sexual charged energy.
Okay, that I think is it. Sorry for a long post, and if I talked in circles a bit there. I'm really new to this so I hope it made any sense and someone can help me answer my questions. Thanks for reading.
