Bruised lip, scratched tongue and inner cheek during wisdom teeth removal - is it common or a sloppy job?

question

The surgeon bruised my lip slightly with his tools. When using that thingy that spins he scratched my tongue as it was touching it. My inner cheek has two small dark spots that were also bruised.

The wisdom teeth themselves were removed with no pain. Are the small scratches common during this kind of surgery or should I find a better dentist?

Small scratches are common, wisdom teeth are difficult to access. I would liken it to the bruises and scratches you would get from any other surgery.

Yeah. Mouths are slippery and small.

A tutor in dental school described dental surgery as “performing microsurgery at the bottom of a water filled bucket in low light”
