My crew can’t hear me... (PC/Steam)

Question

I’ve been scouring the internet for a couple days now trying to find a solution to this problem. I realize it’s a fairly common problem but I’ve not found a solution that works yet. My mic works. It’s not on mute. I’ve tested it with multiple other apps and programs and games. The input is correct on my computer setting and on the Xbox app. My computer even says that it’s picking up the mic for sea of thieves. But no matter what I do, once I’m in game (my game, or someone else’s, doesn’t matter) no one can hear me. The chat bubble isn’t popping up like I’m trying to talk either. It’s just like I don’t have a mic, period. However, I can hear my crew just fine.

I’m playing on PC (steam, although I may try and install through the windows store and see if that changes anything). I have the Xbox companion app. This is the only game I have this problem with.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, ye scurvy dogs.

you need to set it as the default communication device and disable everything else. Make sure you have the correct push to talk settings, and make sure you haven't muted crew chat. Finally, in the advanced sound settings, make sure you have a microphone associated with the sea of thieves application rather than default.

It is set as default. It’s also the only mic I have plugged in.

There's a difference between "default" and "default communications device". and you need to disable virtual mics, realtek, webcam, etc. It's super fuckin picky. I just spent three hours getting mine to work as well.
