REAL RTA Dataset (8000+ Accounts / 60,000 recent matches)
Hello Epic Gamers,
EDIT: u/kingblair4 made a pretty cool tool with this data that let him do some interesting analysis. Putting it here in case people are interested in some analysis. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeLF87JYQxo
Lately I've seen people on this subreddit interested in gathering RTA data and also seen some scuff ways of going about building datasets such as manually logging tournament results, or image-processing Youtube videos.
Ive long hoped that E7 would open up an API for RTA statistics so the community can make some cool tools, though that will never happen.
So, I gathered the RTA Battle Logs of a sample size of 8210 accounts, accounting for a total of ~60k distinct matches and stored them in an sqlite database.
I am primarily posting the data because I hope there are some users who are smarter than me and can do some data anaylsis/visualization.
DATASET CAN BE FOUND HERE - https://gofile.io/d/tam6ke
Some quick notes in Q/A format to for easier browsing -
Q: Why?
For a long time I wanted to make a tool for E7 similar to DestinyTracker/FortniteTracker/OP.GG/etc, but I dont really have the time or money right now to commit to a project like that.
Q: What can this dataset be used for?
This data is a processed form of the battle logs you can see on your own account when you open up "Battle Logs" in the RTA menu. The data was captured yesterday, 2/7/2021. I don't think this data is particularly useful for analyzing long term trends, however I think it is an interesting dataset to 'snapshot' the meta, at all rankings - hence it is called 'rta_snapshot.db'.
Q: But, muh battle logs / stratz!
I anonymized all the data I collected so all you high champ players wont get exposed. If you want to see if your account was sampled for this set here is a list of all accounts that were touched on https://privatebin.net/?381ec799166686b0#58gN6co58peAKx16WXCdzCCucHoCdDyxDu1LVZqUTV84 (expires in a day or so, some of the usernames were too lewd for pastebin lol).
Also, some of you guys have absolutely hilarious in game names. Shoutout to BentaiBaven for cracking me up.
Q: Did you hack my account to get these?
No lol.
Q: What is sqlite3?
Sqlite is a type of database. If you download the dataset you can open it online at https://sqliteonline.com/ if you are new to sqlite and dont have database tools on your computer.
Q: How do I know this .db file isnt malware?
If you don't know how to verify an sqlite .db file is not malware then simply don't download it.
Q: How did you get this data?
My uncle works at SG, of course.
Q: Will you share the tools you used to get this data?
No, too much potential for misuse. Do not dm me regarding this.
Q: Will you post more of these?
If people find this useful I will consider periodically sampling battle logs, maybe bi-monthly or something. It took me about 3-4 hours to collect the logs of 8000+ accounts. I would ballpark that this dataset reflects 10-20% of total accounts with RTA logs I could have processed - but I did not have the patience to let it run for a week. I have also considered collecting legend only battle logs and making an automated "meta report" since it takes far less time.
Here is some basic summary analysis of the dataset. I doubt the results will be all that surprising if you play RTA.
Again, this data is from 60k RECENT matches, encompassing ALL RANKS.

I think there is a whole lot more that can be done with data such as getting WR's for individual units, unit matchups, WR's for pick order, dividing stats by Ranks, etc, etc.
If you have some skills working with data, or just want to peruse it for fun, I hope this post was useful.

Arbies have been adapting (we had full damage no speed ones, really speedy ones, and counter mldb ones) whereas M. Chloe has nothing going for her aside for that one s3.
Arby isn't the problem, basket is.
Arby on his own is a good unit. Baket enables him to just win a game if it procs GAB for glass cannon arby. Without GAB, glass cannon arby is just above average.
Same with tanky arby. He's annoying but manageable. Much more niche than glass cannon arby. If you run him on basket, sometimes he just does too much dmg. Otherwise he's just above average.
There's a reason GAB gaming is a legit strategy. Just hope that GAB procs and you win. If not, it's a tossup. Tsurin is similar with GAB but just less oppressive than arby because of his revive + extra GAB proc chance.
Extinction doesn't matter if you can get arby to go before the enemy and proc GAB and wipe them. ML haste doesn't matter if you can get your arby to go first and GAB before the enemy can respond. Going full tanks is probably the only way to reliably survive a GAB arby, but even then, he could rotate enough times and GAB 2-3x before he's fully dead so it doesn't matter.
Basket is part of the problem, but not THE problem. Like you pointed out, no other Thief becomes broken (for lack of a better term) by Basket in the same way as Arby because none of 'em get "guaranteed" shot(s) at GAB like he does. Even if Basket were nerfed he'd still be one of the most hotly-contested DPS heroes because his kit gives him so much safety and consistency. He can cleave or stop cleaves, he can go fast Basket with the Control Gang or Counter MLDB to screw his counters, and so on. Heck, I've heard tales of high-ranking players investing in a second copy of the hero just to run other builds... Arby's ubiquity is just as much about the kit as it is Basket being Basket.
Even without basket you can be sure He will still be on the top. His skill set is just way too good.
I agree that gab is a big part, but his general is oppressive without it. Multiple debuffs attached to aoe and acess to mldb gaming mean that counter arby can also be terrifying.
Basket arby? , you mean cleave fodder ? Believe me , i love basket arby , no rng involved just give him a nice good extincting , and yes i have quite a few units that can destroy tank arby as long they don't miss.
I guess basket arby would suck for people who for some god forsaken reason want to play bruiser comps and be on the passenger seat and accept all the rng the enemy team can muster.
tbf not everyone has the gear to play outside of bruiser comps
idk man, it's like he assumes everyone can roll for speed gear successfully.
Honestly when you look at it, its just a testament to how fucking broken Arby is.
They release counter after counter and the guy is still as strong as ever and prevalent in the meta.
This is why i say that it doesn't matter how many counters they add, Arby will never fall out of the meta.
Dude should have been nerfed ages ago, but SG doesn't want to give compensation.
I mean they set it up so that they can't really nerf ml units anymore. nerf arby and everyone would just trade him in for the next arby, then people complain they nerf the new unit and everyone will trade in the unit again. It becomes a cycle that really won't fix anything in the end.
While what you are saying is true, there is no unit that comes close to Arby.
He is in a league of his own. Yes, there are some very strong ML 5* units but they aren't nearly as oppressive as Arby.
You either have to pre-ban him, post-ban him or let him through but completely change your gameplan.
No unit forces a reaction like Arby does.
And they have tried many times to release counters to him and they just simply aren't enough. And in doing so they completely killed Maid Chloe.
How shitty is that? The counters weren't even aimed at her and she suffered the most from them.
I really do stand by what i said. Arby is probably the only unit in this game deserving of a nerf. Everything else feels more balanced except for him.
And trust me, i am fully aware they will never nerf him. They would rather create 10 units aimed at countering him than giving compensation for nerfing him.
That's the problem they need to address first, and I know people will downvote me all the way to oblivion. I don't know whether other games follow the same mechanic or not, but I think is unrealistic to expect that every time something is broken and need to be fixed, you'll get a complete refund and pick the next broken thing on the list. As pointed, is going to be a never ending cycle of complain, nerf, broken meta, complain, rinse, repeat. How or when is going to stop?
Now, don't get me wrong, if some hero is nerfed, those who invested deserve some compensation, specially if the hero was build before the whole mess (personally, I build Sigret way before she got her last buff and EE), and I think the full refund of materials employed is one good start. However, allowing to pick one hero of the same tier is a bit too much. A middle ground? I don't know, maybe enough coins to purchase the current hero in the dupe shop? The trick is to allow the player to get one hero of the same rarity without opening the gates to abuse.
The problem is, that's the way they set it up to begin with so I don't think its possible for them to change it now without getting a whole bunch of backlash.
It also harder to fix since they're the rarest units in the game while being the most impactful pvp units. Imagine how frustrating it would be for people who only have 1/2 ml5*s only to get it nerfed and not get to choose something else. It also cost a boat ton to pity mystic so whales who spent money won't be too happy/keen on spending more money if meta units get nerfed a few months after they spent that much on them.
I do agree with that person who said arby is prob one of the few that they can nerf and give a trade in for without having too much of a problem since nothing really compares but even if they did people would be pissed.
I think it's only ml units that get a trade in I believe its only refund for rgb?
Well two of those are ml5, one is a 5 star that is hard af to draft and the final one is an ml4 star that is awkward to draft. Not to mention that 3/4 of those are literal dead weight if the arby goes before them. Just nerf the damn unit and be done with it.
i hope they know they have to rebalance her soon tm
Arby is a safe pick in lower tiers since most people don’t have the gear to counter him. Higher tiers he actually fell of hard last season but gained immense popularity because cerise + ftene are stupid broken. Cerise can disable tomuca and ftene wins the game cause she’s pinnacle of balance alongside cerise. A basket nerf would go a long way to remove arby from meta. But my question is do you really want arby gone? Then the meta becomes complete tank/debuffs (all the knights, ml and rgb, some bruisers and all the cc units). Arby is an evil that exists to keep some of these zzzzfest from being everything. He seems like a necessary evil since knights are the most overpowered class in the game
People are actually afraid of Arby? He always feels like deadweight to me.
He does damage and even more damage when he revives. He is built so many ways nowadays so its getting harder to predict. You basically have to draft a counter agaisnt him and your counter could get banned too. If they last pick him, in most cases you would have to ban him.

You misunderstood, I never fear other Arbys. If you’re anyways competent at building a tanky build or an effective control comp he just isn’t an issue.

This guy's edgy and cool. Pepega
don't say that to the circlejerk here. is arby a strong unit? yes. but what really makes him obnoxious is alexa's basket. the same way some mage units look completely broken with abyssal crown; or ranger with the newly buffed guiding light.
arby upon revive without GAB does borderline tickle dmg to adamant shield-aurius. it's not the skill set that makes arby broken, but the artifact that accompanies him. if one think artifact is part of the hero, then fine, arby is broken.
i agree with you that arby has never been a problem for me in the last 2 arena seasons. i'm not anyone amazing at world arena, i only played to get master for the skin and i did it handily. the way i approach the "arby problem" was that i always assumed enemy would pick arby if he's not prebanned. so if i had 1st pick, i'll pick something decent overall and good against him, this was Carmin. she provided me a lot of protection against arby back then. and if the opponent indeed picked arby, i followed up with Singe and the likes. it's really simple in low level world arena. if they didn't, Carmin was decent anyway so no big deal.
it's really simple in low level world arena where things are predictable. a lot of ppl still think 1 hero alone can somehow solo win them the game. i simply used the predictability of 1st picking arby to my advantage.
