Looking for ideas for a last minute road trip from SF/Sac to Redwoods!
Hi y'all!
I am planning on visiting mid-March and am looking for recommendations. I have done my initial searches, but given my parameters, I would like to ask if anyone had recommendations. I got some great ones for my last trip, hoping to find the same!!
I am flying into either Sacramento or San Francisco unless someone has another recommendation. I am more of a woods person, but would rather nice views on my drive whether it be coastal or woods. I like to hike and given my time frame, which I haven't exactly planned out, but at least 5 days including the drive to and from the airport.
I would love to stop and do small, great hikes of a couple hours along the way. With my goal to see the Redwoods, which I have never seen, but I imagine will bring me to tears when I do. I want to find some hidden gems, not really touristy areas. Like the drive through an actual tree sounds cool, but I want to see well preserved, natural areas maybe with some birdwatching or wildlife.
I am not sure how accessible the pacific crest trail is on my trip, but I am down for anything hiking, in the woods, waterfalls, great geocaches.
It will probably be a solo trip.
I appreciate any responses or helpful subreddits or anything that could help me out with this.
TIA.
