We are not friends

You and I

We make each other laugh

We understand one another

To a point

We say we walk through darkness

Together

But that isn’t true

We walk through the dark

Alone

Keeping one another at a distance

I love you

Granted I love too easy

You do not love me

Because you do not know me

You let me in

Only so far

So I respond in kind

Only so far

We have nothing in common

You and I

Except the darkness

​

It’s nice having a companion

Someone to walk with

For a while

​

But in the end

Our destinations are different

We will again walk alone

You and I
