Wow!
If I saw their original condition at a store, I wouldn't buy them whatever the price was. Heck, I'd even refuse to take them if offered money, unless it was quite a substantial sum.
After the makeover, I wouldn't have been surprised to see them sold for $150 each (I mean, I wouldn't pay that much, but wouldn't be surprised if someone did). They look classy AF!
Could you believe I paid 110 for both of those? The pictures online of course looked completely different. Smh
Yeah I can totally feel the disappointment there. But you did an amazing job of cleaning them up!
Now explain the carpet!! Explain yourself!
🤣
This looks awesome! Thanks for sharing your pictures and process - definitely going to attempt this. We have some really sad-looking plastic stools and lots of random wood sitting in our garage that could definitely be put to better use. Next month's project!
Bought these in a pinch online from Target. Was disappointed to see the stool tops were a cheesy fake plastic "mimicking" wood.
New stool tops are made of niove, black walnut and a strip of maple.
Same thing happened to us. Could you share a bit about your process? Thanks!
Sure, not sure how much woodworking equipment/experience you have. But it's pretty much like making a cutting board. Glue some wood together, clamp tight. I had a planer to get everything flat but I could have used a sander. I rounded the edges with a router. 3 coats of polyurethane, sanding at 220 grit lightly after each coat dried. Then just used the same screws and screw holes that were in the metal part.
I got some of the wood from woodcraft, the rest I had lying around.
Thank you for answering! Definitely out of our wheelhouse but it's still good to know it's doable :)
It's definitely doable, good luck!
