My experiment with YT shorts
So about 2 weeks ago I started my YT Shorts experiment as my channel was barely growing no matter how many videos I posted and how great my thumbnails were. Since the first Shorts video I posted I went from 26 subs to 61, and I’ve gained around 20,000 views. Most of my shorts videos are 15-30 seconds, with many others in 5-7 second range. I’ve posted 40+ Shorts videos, with more in the works.
I know it’s a lot but it was very very easy as I just took short clips from my longer videos. This showed people what they were missing from my channel. They served as trailers in a sense. I’ve received more likes and more comments as well. I strongly suggest everyone to try this as Shorts are seen by anyone and everyone. Not every video will succeed but you have to put the time in and make as many as you can.
Lastly, Shorts have to be in vertical format and I understand that’s a problem if your videos aren’t in that format. Fear not, as you can take your video and export it in a square format(I did 1080x1080 using Premiere Pro) and upload it to YouTube. It’ll have black bars at the top and bottom of the screens, but trust me it doesn’t matter. Fox News does this too when they post Shorts videos. 90% of my videos have reached the Shorts Shelf. Like I mentioned, just take videos you’ve posted, and take the best moments and post those. The link below helped me a lot.
