This games dope, thank you everyone here for the tips.

Recently beat pixel dungeon after 4 years of trying and found this game because I needed more rogue style adveture gaming in my life. Freaking love it so far. Got a barbarian to day 124 yesterday. Switched over to hunter today because the perk that gives more food drops seems cool.

Anyone play hunter? Is the hunters food drop perk any good or not worth it?

Oof, I'm stuck on Barbarian.

Any tips on how to live so long? I think my record is about 44 days. By that point I'll always be constantly out of food and water.

Edit: thanks for the help everyone! I've just had a Barb die at about 110 days, onto Wizard and Hunter!

The struggle is real in the beginning for food, until you get fishing rod. Then it's a little easier to maintain. As far as tips on it, harvest everything you see and eat it. Kill every animal especially rabbits. Food plants start respawning after roughly 30 days after you first enter a zone I believe. Happy cake day and good luck! Try using the strong digestion totem you got it too. I'm pretty green myself haha, wish I had better tips :/

Apparently replied to op rather than you, so plz refer to my aforementioned post, but also HAPPY CAKE DAY!

Also level up only to skills at first I went with sword and defence. Op the he'll out of what you want and then you will have an easier time dealing with fights

What weapons should I use?

I start with double knives but I'm not sure how effective that is in the long term, especially with all of Barb's boosts to two-handers and blunt weapons.

Double knives are great for a while then try and craft covert daggers or some of the rarer items you get. Also jagged blades I think the are called and 1 of the 2 handed swords Knight sword I think...? Look at the stats of the weapons you have and craft the better one. Once you get better ones craft them, old ones put them in a chest either for repair or as I have sentimental value hahahaha 2 chests no jk. Good luck!

I'm barbarian on day 634 food problem always watch the adds and get farming always have some produce ready to pick up in base. Make at least 8 to 15 farms the more the merrier later on you will get a compost pile after rol4 and shit will rain haha. Kill everything that you see and get goats lots of goats using 3 bushes and lazos 2 ropes to make milk is a saviour try and save honey aswell and have it for emergencies

Tiger_T20•

Bruh, I'm not sure I've ever gotten rol2

When do you get farms?

2
PraiseKeysareOP•

Rol2 unlocks it. The tablet for it is in a cave in desolate meadow and rol2 is somewhere in desolate meadow as well.

Any tips on obtaining the larger mana motes? I've hit a barrier where i can't craft my alch equipment...

1
Duochan_Maxwell•

If you don't find them, you'll have to trade them, I think. I always hoard them as much as possible

2
Aj8910•

Sadday, but ty for the info!

I haven't unlocked hunter just yet, got to day 98 on barb and went into the wrong cave... but as for weapons, make staves. Yes, keep 2 thrown weapons in your off hand set (i.e. daggers or knives), but your main weapon should be a staff imo. I say this for 3 reasons: 1) super cheap to make as it only requires a stick and you can use your non- enchanted ones as currency w/ merchants. 2) the accuracy and chain attack chance are fairly high if you throw your points into 2 handed which suits barbs. 3) being able to cast spells (particularly light barrier or the one that heals you and causes foes to forget) without energy expenditure is clutch.

As for food, keep exploring. But explore out, not down, until you find new bioms, then go back through to go down before you actually enter said new bioms. Fishing will also greatly help w/ food (fish are meh tbh but help when waiting for rabbits to respawn) due to contaminated piles counting as fertilizer. Save your seeds and as many of your worms as hunger will allow for farming. RoL 2 does effectively resolve the food crisis though.

P.S. What was your favorite PD version and class?

PraiseKeysareOP•

I really only played regular PD, tried rooted(? I think) didnt like it so I went back to regular. Mage is my fav, with warlock spec.

Just died on day 99 with my hunter in wild dark :( was such a nice run! Had gobs of stone and metals, found 3 of those artifact blueprints... I was cruising! then my cocky ass decided I could beat the boss that spawns when you grab the dark artifact in the second rune cave....2 revive ahnks later I still died 😭😭😭 I'm real big salty.

Thank you for the tips :) I've been using crude staff as my main weapon. Getting a blessed +1 is pretty common when I'm cranking them out for merchant. One day I hope to get far enough in game to replace the crude staff with a real sword. Not holding my breathe though lol.

I got super lucky and got a blessed apple staff+2 with light purification and frost damage on my current run... I've sank roughly 12 anks into that game lol... i refuse to give that one up. And sprouted PD is quite different from the original. I would recommend shattered if you want another PD experience. As for the dark relic, come back to that after RoL IV.

Thanks for info on dark relic!

I have a weird tip that I have learned to use while playing this and hitting the food wall with around level 30 barbarian . So as your running through your start of the game achievements and it gives you materials like food and branches , dont ever click the get button . Just click outside the box and it will store all those achievements until you go in and use them . There are quite a few food items you get , just save them till later and scavenge, trust me same with bandages and what not . Side note if you killing it and dont need food atm, u can save the large jerky and meats for the cuisine trader u always see and get yourself some more storage or armor . I've been finding all this rather useful with that mid game bump . Cheers

I hold off on taking the bandages and food from starting quests too! It really is helpful having those at the ready.

Ty for the tips! I just died on day 101 on my hunter:( is rol 3 in dense forest?

2
LuZiferzm•

Ouch sorry for the loss . Got a barb at 40 right now and as long as I dont get reckless his future is looking bright atm. Also dont know if you have read about the crude staff hacker man buy low sell high shit . But I took 8 to a vendor and you can get even the most expensive item . I'm slowly learning the nooks and crannies. Wondering what today's update entails .

3
PraiseKeysareOP•

Are you referring to using crude staff to buy at merchants? Or is there more to it than just spamming crudes for goods?

2
Duochan_Maxwell•

It takes more effort but it is good if you want to refresh specific shops

You can buy items from the shop that sells food (if you want to make it refresh, for example) and sell the roasted meats at the shop that buys meat cuisine and sells something more durable

2
PraiseKeysareOP•

Oh you're saying do a trade route type of deal. Smart thinking, I will have to try it!

Thank you so much for the input :)

2

Best to try and get a character to a stable position before starting a new one. I find it easier after achieving ROL3 since the previous map areas will replenish after going into dense jungle. Just takes a hell lotta tries before getting a lucky run

1
ryenplus•

Also, start farming sticks and bushes after ROL3, craft bows and trade on!

2
PraiseKeysareOP•

Why bows? I thought crude staff was the trading item of choice.

1
ryenplus•

I guess i have too much bush...

2
Aj8910•

Leave your cut bushes out for milk and just make crude staves instead, it resolves currency and food/thirst/energy.

1
PraiseKeysareOP•

I hate bush... yet I still cut every God damn one down lol.

1
Aj8910•

Replenishment is a time based occurrence (measured in days) not strictly unlocked by entering the jungle.

2
ryenplus•

Yeah but most runs, i run out of food by the time i reach denss jungle ruins and die of hunger. And nothing has replenished in the previous maps

1
rickandrowling28•

I once had a lucky run. I got 5 elven coins in the first cave, but I was inexperienced and died soon after. I wish i had that run again...

1
ryenplus•

After playing so long, i would say lucky runs would give you lots of food in the beginning... and fewer cursed items hahah

Elven coins kinda loses value once you start farming sticks and bushes

1
rickandrowling28•

I still count it as a lucky one though. I remember the next map had a food trade and with elven coins I could've gotten every food. The problem was I thought elven coins were something important for a future crafting recipe, so I didn't use it. And I died.

2
ryenplus•

Oh nooo haha
