Some questions regarding augmentations materials farming

Question

I unlocked the Guiding Lands a couple of weeks ago, i'm finishing to level up Coral to 7, i already Volcano/Tundra to level 7 all the rest to 1 except for Forest that is lv 3 just to unlock the Yian Garuga mission.

My main focus is to unlock Health Regen/Affinity boost/Extra Augmentation Slots on Rarity 12/11 weapons so the first question is: how to andle the other regions level up from this point?

Is the Tempered Ruiner Nergigante event still the best to get Great Spiritvein Gem?

My last concern regard instead about my build and if is better switch it to a faster one , i'm an IG main using a 3Pieces Teo+2Raging Brachy+Challenger charm at the moment switching weapon element dependig the monster weakness and i'm using this same build for the Guiding Lands , do you think is better to swap to another weapon ? What are the fast killing build for the GL farming?

you can get the important augments with a 7 tundra 7 volcano 7 coral 4 rotten spread

yes, ruiner nerg is better unless you have insane RNG, even if you take your time getting the most wallbangs possible with a sleep build I would say the avarage number of gems is around 1 per monster, if not less, but it takes much longer than nergi anyway

unless you are fighting something really resistent to blast like teostra or brachydios I would say just use the lightbreak press and match only the kinsect for the elemental weakness, for GL builds you just want your regular build with geology 1, that's it

IMO I feel that the RNG of fighting certain Tempered Guiding Lands monsters is better than the guaranteed single gem of the Tempered Nergi event; I've gotten two or three gems from a Tempered Velkhana or Nergi in the Guiding Lands, as every flinch, part break, or wall bang will get you two pickups (with Geologist).

Rarity 12 Health Regen requires Tempered Namielle (Coral Highlands level 7) and regular Zinogre, while Affinity augment just needs regular Glavenus. Attack Augment requires Tempered Kushala (Forest or Volcanic 7) and regular Savage Jho. The Extra Slot augments need regular Nergi, Tempered Rajang (Volcanic 7), Tempered Nergi (anywhere), and Tempered Stygian Zinogre (Tundra 7).

Weapon choice wise, the Lightbreak IG will be the best choice for the majority of fights. The only elemental choices that are meta with your current gear level are the Alatreon IG and the Kjarr Water. Kjarr Paralysis is also very good.

I would recommend running a Sleep weapon on your Palico in order to get one or two sleeps on any given monster, as you can get one or two wallbangs off of each one, which will increase your DPS and drops quite a bit.

I would recommend farming tempered Ruiner Nerg (lure to the Tundra) since it drops materials like a piñata. It’s not as fast as the tempered Ruiner Nerg event quest, but you’ll be able to get Great Spiritvein gems and Elder Spiritvein bones, and you’ll need many of those for augments. The Annihilating Temperhorns are also just good melding fodder if you decide to spend the Research Points and meld other augment materials like Smoldering Tailedges from Glavenus.

Another thing: one level of the Geologist skill will let you pick up each dropped item an extra time as if it’s a bone pile. It may not exactly be “intended” game design but it effectively cuts augment material farming time in half and I would have lost my mind without Geologist while augmenting my hundreds of weapons.

I already know about the geologist skill , i've a good amount of Nergi lure so maybe i will first use them and see the drop results.

Doing the Ruiner event quest is not that good I'd say.

Yes you get 1 (or 1+) gem, but nothing else of value. Do the same in Guiding Lands and you get not only gems, but also elder bones (highly valuable) and mats for melding or augmenting.

As for farming elders in GL you have 3 options: Velkana, Ruiner Nergi and Kushala. They all drop shinies like crazy, but I find Kushala to be the best and fastest to farm.

If you ever need easy materials and lots of them, get yourself any decent HBG spread 3 set and stunlock Kushala. Hunt last anywhere from 2-4 minutes and everytime Kush gets knocked out, she drop a handful of shinies.
