Saturn v1, v2, v3

I see reference to three versions of the Saturn on the Whambam flex plate website. Anyone know what the differences are other than the build plate size? Are there other upgrades to the machine from v1 to v3? Thanks.

There is no designation be Elegoo what is V1, V2, V3 etc. That is just what version of the Whambam plate you need.

The Saturns have all been shipping with some slightly different configs with no rhyme or reason... probably just due to part availability.

  • Saturns are shipping with two different screens. You have to open up the panel to see which one you have.

  • Some Saturns are shipping with a Z Brace, some are not, no idea why?

  • So far 3 slightly different sized build plates have been identified, but the printable space is still the same.

I know my Saturn that was manufactured in Jan 2021 has the 196x126 build plate, a Z-brace, and the pj089y2 screen.

Any info on the differences between the screens used?

I know they mount differently. One mounts with screws and the other is held in place with double sided tape. It is almost like they ran out of one and had to make the other work.

They us two different cables, and one requires a firmware update.

As far as print settings/quality, I have no idea.

I found a post on WhamBam's blog that the build plates have been slightly different sizes with each shipment of Saturns and they are recommending measuring for yourself. Article

Didn't know about the different screens. According to elegoo the z brace is to aid in manufacturing and has no impact on the printing capabilities. From the pics I've seen (my Early-bird order doesn't have the z brave) it's an FDM printed piece so can easily model and print one yourself if you happen to have access to an fdm printer. I also think printers after the first batch have a different lense to combat the grid line issues a lot of people were having.

Two additional parts on the z-axis.

Oh I see, I think mine has that. My Saturn was shipped recently a week ago and has the 'v2' build plate.

The grid issue was the mars pro, not the saturn, and it was a mid-run, not first batch. ( They made a change, and that caused the problem. )

I've seen pictures with Saturns that have the USB slot in front, my has it on the side, Not sure why it's like that.
