Precisely as Mr. Palmer stated. Evangelical, fundamentalist and/or charismatic Xtianity is meant to to produce sheep who are blinded, deafened, dumbed down, and made sense-less… with consequences.
And ready to be duped and fleeced.
One of the best things about walking away from my faith has been getting to know & appreciate myself, for who I truly am. Also, others, for who they are.
Me too
Absolutely. This! Also, it is so comforting that there are millions of people to talk to about it. Christianity is so lonely and depressing when you secretly don’t believe and it’s scary- but being able to have conversations that don’t need to be kept in private to other people who believe the same things that you do is so refreshing!
So much this... yes! Thank you
Institutionalized mutilation of ones humanity, seems to be the hallmark of most oppressive ideologies and religions, in my opinion.
Took that message to heart when I was 8, maybe 9 years old. Depression, alcoholism, repression, and self-hatred throughout the next 30 years. 38 now, fully embraced atheism, have quit drinking, and have come out as gay to my wife and family. Rejecting the message of self-rejection has been the single most impactful thing in my life.
I’ve spent years of my life trying to rebuild my self-esteem after growing up being an unworthy and insignificant sinner. I can’t even put my feelings into words. Walking away from my faith gave me a whole new life. A life free from shame, guilt, and feelings of hopelessness. I am who I am. And I understand mortality, and my perception of life. I’ve lost the reassurance that praying once gave me, but I’m working on it.
Wow! Pop goes the weasel
Yup, delete your own Self. Good grief

If you say so
I REJECT MY HUMANITY JOJO
