Hedera Hashgraph vs Fantom

Can someone who's much more intelligent than me tell me why Hedera is superior to Fantom? It seems like they're both aBFT, use gossip, charge a fraction of a cent and Fantom seems to be leaderless like Hedera.

I'm trying to understand what differentiates the two and I thought Hedera had a patent on hashgraph technology so how was Fantom able to achieve this with blockchain?

Thanks in advance. BTW I hold HBAR and just genuinely want to better understand. Not trying to belittle HH.
