This sub has a huge issue that needs to be addressed. I'm constantly seeing posts again and again shameless in their joke theft. Who is it reposting all our Memes?

The worst part is none of the jokes are that good

I'm going to be honest, I don't know how to take this.

There’s that one that just flipped the picture upside down. It stands out so I can say clearly that I’ve seen it reposted four times. It’s not. Even. Funny. Not a single one got over 50 votes, I don’t understand.

Listen, it will be difficult to hear this , but memes aren't intellectual property.

I'm like a magicIan in that I use misdirection before unveiling my punchline.

Sadly my writer is semi illiterate and I suck at magic.

What are you talking about?

I'm trying to tell this guy, in the most kind way possible, that he got me all wrong.

See if your plan was to make a joke , thinking that people would reply to " who was reposting/stealing memes" and say it was Agatha all along. It didn't work. Ps magicians have acts/tricks not punchlines.

Even then, it gets tiring to see the same memes reposted over and over.

I would like to see the legal ruling on that. Provably, because of derivative work, but in the US copyright is automatically established on any creative work.

That happens on a company acting as a publisher Ex. YouTube is a publisher, sm is not. However there are copyright strikes on sm too but that can be done only if the "creative work" was was copyrighted by the owner. Ex .So a meme that has a text "Bob" With a picture of bob the builder. Now I could just change bob the builder's clothes give him goggles or something and instead of writing "Bob" I could write "boB". What this means is that there is no point in automating the meme copyright so no one really does it.

It depends on the licenses of the materials/tools you use to create something, but generally speaking if you as an individual create something, you automatically have a copyright to it. This is a legal thing, not a technology automated thing. What rights you give up or assign when you post something is a different matter altogether. Again, this is how US law is generally.
