Magic In The Mundane
If there's any magic in this world,
It is in the mundanity
It is in looking hard enough
at the brown leaf, rusty and crisp,
like an old potato chip
Finding poetry in the empty parking lot
quietude amongst shrieking chaos
Cramming music in dull meetings,
filling the idea board with art
Carving out attention like a caveman,
Serving it hot to stone-cold hearts
Listening intently, offering kisses and balm,
to lips chapped in grief and qualms
Magic is in noticing the whistling train
the enchanting unordinary tree
the restless, growling wind's uneasy stomach
It is in staying, finding majesty & melancholy
long after the lights turn off.
