Partition an SSD, good or bad?

Hey guys. I was just setting up my new pc (lenovo legion 5) and I had just partitioned my 500GB drive in two when my father told me I shouldn't have done that, cause that would eventually be bad for the drive. So I did a system recovery and undo the changes. But I gotta ask, and please excuse me for my ignorance, is it truly bad to do so?
