We have our winners for the Best of r/anime 2020!
Without further ado, presenting:
Best comments
-
u/redshirtengineer, having been well and truly broken by the mindfuck of Ergo Proxy, decides to write a fanfic of himself interacting with the show’s cast. Nominated by u/Nazenn.
-
u/Suhkein with an insightful comment in a Koi Kaze rewatch (spoilers for episode 5). Also nominated by u/Nazenn.
-
u/Shimmering-Sky, as a first-timer to Bleach, somehow manages to predict what happens during a rewatch - not once, but twice (warning: massive spoilers for Bleach!). Nominated by u/degenerate-edgelord and u/vaadwaur.
Top commenters
-
u/Pixelsaber, for all his well-actualized opinions in his numerous rewatches and Writing Club remarks, and just generally being a nice guy that prefers to raise up his love of classic anime rather than cut down the newer stuff. Example: his reflection at the end of the Space Runaway Ideon rewatch. Nominated by u/amhpanther.
-
u/Shimmering-Sky, for her delightful contributions to rewatches and the sub in general. Whether it's the pure energy and emotion of her rewatch reactions, sharing the wonderful wallpapers she makes, or spreading her trademark love of 'sore demo', you can count on a comment of hers to bring about some much needed joy. Nominated by u/theangryeditor.
Best episode discussion moments
-
u/walking_the_way deciphers a language in the Kemono no Souja Erin rewatch. Nominated by u/Retromorpher.
-
u/Shimmering-Sky's bold move of watching Miru Tights at the dinner table. Nominated by u/punching_spaghetti.

u/AmethystItalian also nominated… every single user who hasn’t spoiled something in an episode discussion thread. If that’s you, you’re the real MVP.
Most enjoyable rewatches
-
u/chiliehead's rewatch of the beloved Monogatari Series. You could tell how much passion and effort was there from the host and co hosts from posting extra details to making sure they reply and help every participant. Nominated by u/tehsigzorz.
-
u/ABoredCompSciStudent's Kemono no Souja Erin Rewatch. Rewatches longer than 12 episodes are not easy, and she guided viewers through 50 episodes, keeping good conversation going and providing plenty of cool extra behind-the-scenes info and collected fanart. Nominated by u/punching_spaghetti.
-
u/Pixelsaber's Yomigaeru Sora: Rescue Wings rewatch, for pulling a ton of factoids about rescue vehicles, pertinent creator information and found daily fanart for what appears to be an almost completely under-the-radar piece of media. Nominated by u/Retromorpher
Best original fanarts
-
u/Taradoxon does a Dr. Stone piece using a literal stone slab, nominated by u/AmeteurElitist
-
u/skaarl-'s drawing of their favourite anime MCs. Nominated by u/Retromorpher.

u/badspler's collection of the most frequent dates in anime. Hella data collection involved in that, well presented, and an extremely novel concept is the triple crown of good original content. Nominated by u/FetchFrosh.
-
u/FetchFrosh's COVID-19 Anime Survival Guide, a timely and great way for people both trying to get into anime or wanting to watch something that they might have somehow missed. Nominated by u/Fools_Requiem.

u/FetchFrosh, for consistently churning out great posts, ike this map of anime set in Japan. Nominated by u/Knights_Gambit.
-
u/Shimmering-Sky, for participating in nearly every rewatch (or hosting them) and giving detailed reactions, lots to talk about and also really cool wallpapers. Here's her helping out another host who needed someone to take over for a day, and being very active in the comments below. Nominated by u/degenerate-edgelord.

I WON FOUR AWARDS THIS TIME?
If you never spoiled anything in discussion threads you get a fifth
I'm one of the ones who's been going around reporting the peeps who have been spoiling Attack on Titan, so I guess I do get a fifth.
Congratulations! Your weekly comments in the non-airings thread are a joy to read and looks like that quality spreads towards lots of other posts in this subreddit, really happy to see your name so much in those awards.
Aww, thanks~ I love your non-airing threads because I don't really watch seasonals (AOT S4 is the sole exception at the moment). Gives me a place to talk about them that isn't just CDF or in a rewatch.
