Newbie here - better to get started with larger quantity of retail or smaller quantity of hobby? Would this local deal be a waste?

I found a seller on Facebook marketplace near me selling 5 blasters, 2 hangers, and 3 fat packs of 2021 Topps Series 1. He’s selling them for $30, $20, $12 each respectively. That’d be $226 total. Maybe I can ask him for $200 for the whole lot. I know he’s upping the price to make a profit on what he paid for them. But would buying this lot be a recommended way to get started collecting? Or would I be better served using the money on a hobby box from eBay?

I’m excited to get into this hobby! This seems like one of the more friendly and relaxed subs on Reddit haha
