Where the heck did you find one!?
I ordered it in like Nov/Dec and waited until Feb-ish lol
Ahh did you get it from ACK or something?
Yeah
Nice, thanks.
Fantastic. Tell me more. Just bought a Dagger Axis 10.5. How did it feel? Everything is still covered in ice here, I won’t be kayaking at least until the end of May. Is that the Aurora? That’s the colour of mine. I’m moving up from my Pelican, so just a little curious on stability. I figure it’ll be different but hopefully tracks straight and a bit faster.
Yes, it's the aurora! 😊
I upgraded from a Perception 10.5 Angler - it's been a minute since I had a standard rec yak, so my comparisons would be different than coming off of a Pelican probably. I think you'll be happy with it!
I'm a dumbass and didn't figure out the drop skeg before putting in. So between that and the wind, it tracked.. pretty poorly compared to the fishing yak, tbh. Now that I know I'm looking forward to my next trip lol.
The primary stability was a little worse than the angler, but that's to be expected. After a few minutes I felt fine, but given the temps I sure wasn't going to test the limits. It was a leisurely paddle.
Speed was definitely, definitely better than the angler, and it was very responsive to paddles.
My suited up fat ass missed the extra cockpit opening space for entering/exiting, but the stock seat was amazing. I was very comfy in it. I like that the water bottle holder is far enough forward that I can actually use it.
I'm looking forward to warmer weather!
lol. I’m worried about the opening too. It is smaller than the pelican so I’ll have to be more accurate getting in. Upside...more shade and less drips from the paddle. I picked up a new paddle...pelican Symbiosa. It adjusts with the press of a little button. It still has the little notch on the blade which I have found handy to pull up to docks or hubs kayak. It’s going to be a long wait until our weather warms up. I’m just north of Toronto, Ont.
Nice! And yeah it will be a minute for you lol. I was only able to go out because of my drysuit. There was slush on the water, that was fun to play with.
