DEEP ITM CALLS CAUSED THE MEGA DIP: NEW THEORY
Good afternoon to those with giant diamond balls,
First off I'd like to say congratulations to everyone still here, we have survived what may or may not prove to be the worst to come.
We have seen some crazy price movement today in the run-up this morning immediately proceeded by todays mega dip. Over the past few days I have shared my findings with you regarding the DEEP ITM calls that have been purchased from the PHLX exchange. Many were quick to point out that the open interest on these calls were not rising in accordance with the calls being purchased.
My previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/GME/comments/m1hejz/quick_update_additional_40_million_deep_itm_calls/
I think this is as a result of these options being exercised as soon as the contracts are purchased. This would give someone (or some entity) the rights to roughly 2.1 million shares.
Someone is welcome to link the data set but in an attempt to get his post out quickly you can take my word. The report from the iborrowdesk is that the number of shares available to short did not change from before the short attack until after. This means that wherever the shares came from that originated the short attack were being previously held by someone.
Interestingly enough, there was a sale of roughly 2 million shares in the first 3 minutes of the short attack that likely triggered stop loss orders causing some investors to sell.
My theory is that whoever did this was the same individual who owned the 2.1 million shares from the DEEP ITM calls.
Here is where the scenarios diverge:
Scenario 1: The owner of these calls were the short HF's from before and they sold off the shares in hopes of triggering mass panic and a complete sell off. this would have been done in a last ditch effort to stop the impending gamma squeeze that may have occurred from having tons of out of the money calls move into the money during the week. (this causes them to buy shares to hedge the position)
Scenario 2: The owner of these calls is a long HF (or whale) that had a goal in mind to get GME onto the SSR list tomorrow to help ensure the start of the gamma squeeze. Lets remember that making it onto the SSR will mean that tomorrow they will only be able to short on an uptick. Now, these HF's aren't necessarily on our side, but they also are far from being on the side of the short HF's. These HF's are on the side of making money. they may have seen an opportunity to both further their own goals and grab some paper-handed retail shares in the process. Let's remember these guys only care about making themselves money however they can.
Feel free to list other potential theories in the comments . I'd love to hear your thoughts.
u/Dan_Bren out.
P.S. my wife's boyfriend paper-handed today and i bought his shares
