Thank you for sharing your opinions with us today.
Post Removed - Rule 1 blatantly ignored. You've dissed the whole sub.
policy may just be deeply ableist.
Okay. I guess we'll have to splain some things for your mushy-mind.
Airlines, according to you, can no longer require that their pilots be mentally stable, and are able to maintain that stability free of pharmaceuticals. Oh, and their eyes - doesn't matter! Their height, and ability to reach the rudder pedals and the overhead panel switches from now on are completely optional because u/ElegantDimensions has decreed so. To do otherwise is wrong, per you.
Your reasoning in this post is that of a low moron. Someone not even bothering to try to figure things out. I would encourage you to do a bit better, if you can.
It's ableist when there is prejudice without cause.
In the case of pilots being able to see, of having sound mental faculties, and being able to reach the pedals means that some people under 5'2" or over 6'4" might not get to play nor work in airplane cockpits. Those that qualify will bring the 100 to 300 million dollar icompany investments and the 200-400 passengers inside safely to destination as they were well-trained to do.
Those limits are not ableism. That's basic facts, basic requirements of the job.
For Kundalini, wisely and safely done, that also involves certain attitudes and abilities. If you don't have those, you get the equivalent of a crab being pounded and tumbled by Hawaii storm waves in the surf zone.
It's not ableist to describe that for many forms of mental illness (a damn big spread of varied things), that most will make Kundalini far harder and more destructive to the person involved, all the way to absolute guaranteed self-destruction. Other's well being can be involved too.
As with driving a car, flying a plane, operating machinery, it's not just about you.
In the mildest cases of mental illness, challenges may not be much different. Do you want me doubling the length of every sentence just to force your lazy mind to not draw dumb conclusions?
You also seem like the kind of person who justifies drunk driving. Can't even be responsible with your and others' lives. Me first! Well, fuck you selfish person.
What exactly makes you think what you have experienced is Kundalini, and not just Chi or Prana? Hmm? That might explain a few things.
Or did you grow up perfect, with no emotional baggage nor issues whatsoever. Maybe the rules don't apply to mr / mrs perfect. I'm sorry that we cannot all be at your level of amazing wonderfulness. Facepalm.
Maybe just maybe you lucked out and don't have issues. What applies to you is rare, and doesn't apply to others. Applying your ideas to others then would be fucking with people and setting them up to fail. To put it in the most polite terms.
I prefer to guide people to succeed.
since before I was even aware of what kundalini was called, and I had irl guidance about it
Did you have guidance on Kundalini energy from a decent source, or from the popular KYatbYB form of yoga? Completely different thing.

If this is the culture you were trained through, I'd not at all be surprised by your perspective. Very few YBatbYB people ever accessed Kundalini. Bhajan never taught anything about responsibility re Kundalini. He got kicked out of an Oral Tradition school in India in the 1950's prior to getting the opportunity to learn it because he wasn't behaviourly compatible with the energy.
Is that like you?
Considering the potential (and usually certain) consequences of drunken Kundalini, your arguments are extremely poorly done. Lots of fallacies. Intentional misdirections. You haven't done anything to justify your point of view. You've only attacked ours.
You're being a bit of an asshole today to pull this stunt here.
It also wastes our time.
I very much appreciate the emphasis on safety in this sub
Not a single word nor line you've written here backs that up in any way. Quite the contrary. So, I don't believe you.
We're going to invite you to take a holiday. Oh wait - it's not an invite.
Pleasant moments.

The emphasis on the potential dangers of kundalini has saved many people from wrecking their lives, I am sure. Had it not been for these warnings I for one would not be on a path of deep healing, but more likely on a path of regaining some basic functionality with psychiatric medications.
How many reckless folks are out there, sitting on a huge pile of repressed issues they self-medicate with addictions to drugs and whatnot or take stupid doses of powerful psychedelics. Add kundalini on top of these conditions and you have a fine case of psychosis or some sort of hellish mania when the energy is really going nuts and won't repent for days on end.
Not everyone has a living teacher available to them to help navigate such territory and no one should suffer needlessly. K on its own is a powerful agent of growth. The bigger the pile of unresolved issues of varying severity a person has, the higher the danger of being overwhelmed by an eruption of material from the unconscious to the point of mental breakdown/psychosis. And such a radical opening can very well occur in the wakes of active k, especially mixes with drugs and alcohol. This is a fact.
Mental illness is almost always the result of deep psychological wounding, wounding which K will bring into direct experience relentlessly. Wounding that the psyche repressed for a good reason. Healing severe issues needs to happen carefully, gentle and with patience and lots of human support and kindness. Preferably not with a radical unsticking agent like K.
I for one narrowly avoided hospitalization after mixing k with self exploration on drugs. I'm still dealing with major destabilization and practically ZERO quality of life over a year later. One glass of wine is enough to bring up so much repressed stuff that my nervous system takes days to settle somewhat again. And I believed I was "largely fine but I have some issues that need addressing" before that.
Before k I would get stoned and drunk regularly without a problem. Now I need to be sober all the time - k by itself moves so much stuff that I can barely cope.
The policy is not discriminatory at all. It is a wise act of kindness that protects fools like me from their own ignorance.

I suffer from pretty severe CPTSD as well. No, I was not an alcoholic. I was a young guy who got drunk on weekends sometimes. Never had any signs of withdrawal from booze and often went weeks without a single sip. But I'm glad you shared your highly valued opinion on what is and what is not my issue(s). My unhealthy coping mechanism was something else entirely, which I will not discuss with a - however well meaning - internet stranger.
Kundalini ripped all of the bandaids off at once and unleashed the energies of decades of repressed trauma. I almost didn't make it. I'm not the only one who had an experience of this magnitude. I am glad your awakening went smoother and you are where you are today (really, no sarcasm), but you can't just assume that is going to be the case for everybody. Jesus
